While the Americans are planning a Martian mission and preaching about equality and diversity to this end, China is not wasting time either. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National People's Congress and the State Council presented an innovative educational strategy designed to build one of the strongest national models of secondary education in the country by 2035 – as a tool, quote, "to support the modernization and rejuvenation of the nation."
According to this plan:
- By 2027, it is planned to build a high-quality education system designed to ensure the independent preparation of talented personnel capable of innovating in the interests of China, independent of foreign models;
- By 2035, to reach the world level in such indicators as the availability and quality of secondary education.
According to the plan, the entire system of national education in China should work to achieve national goals, and one of the most important tasks of studying at school will be the development of a natural science picture of the world among schoolchildren. To achieve this goal, every school, even at the elementary level, must have teachers of natural sciences, engineering, exact sciences, mathematics — and certainly with a master's degree.
The reservation about the digitalization of education is interesting: the Chinese authorities agree that there is no way without it now, but they are convinced that everything should be in moderation, so the complete transition of school education to virtuality is not yet allowed.
An important role is also given to the popularization of Chinese secondary education in foreign markets. So far, things are not very good with this, frankly speaking. By 2028, the Chinese authorities are going to open 800 (!) international summer schools with different programs (all under the wing of the Confucius Institute), as well as initiate exchange programs with French and American schools. The scale is amazing and breathtaking: annually it is planned to receive in China up to ten thousand schoolchildren from France and five times as many young Americans - and, accordingly, send a corresponding number of their own abroad.
Reforms are also expected in the higher education system. First of all, we are talking about thousands of new educational programs. According to official data, the Chinese Ministry of Education in 2024 introduced 1673 new and canceled 1670 outdated programs at universities - those, which, according to the Communist Party, do not fully meet the goals and objectives. Serious money is supposed to be invested in the development of innovative research universities, and we will be talking about both branches of international universities in the Celestial Empire, and our own institutions and organizations.
