What do they eat in South Korea: the most delicious Korean food

Korean cuisine is not the most popular in the world, but it is quite varied, with many regional characteristics. The basis of the diet of Koreans is rice, noodles, vegetables, meat, fish. All this is generously flavored with garlic, paprika, sesame seeds and soy sauce. Almost all dishes are spicy, due to the love of Koreans for red pepper. It is interesting to note that they fell in love with him relatively recently in the 16th century, when the Portuguese brought him from South America.

The use of hot peppers is due, among other things, to the climate - in the southern regions there is a hot and humid climate, and pepper allows you to keep the freshness of products longer. Koreans have so much appreciated the taste of red pepper that the word " hot " has become synonymous with the word " tasty ".

The second most popular seasoning is garlic. Also Koreans love soy sauce and soy paste.

Korean cuisine is divided into categories:

  • Court kitchen
  • Kitchen for commoners
  • Diaspora cuisine.

Of course, there are similarities with Japanese and Chinese cuisines. Along with the Japanese, Koreans eat fish, including raw, like the Chinese, they love pork.

The basis of the diet of every Korean is rice. We can say that rice replaces bread for Koreans. At a common meal, everyone is served a separate plate of rice, and other snacks are placed on the table in common bowls, which are an accompaniment to the main dish and rice. From the cutlery on the table - sticks and a spoon: sticks are used to eat rice and snacks, and a spoon is used for soups, which are a lot in the Korean diet.

Here are some popular Korean dishes.

  • Kimchi is the most famous Korean dish: sauerkraut or radish. In addition, kimchi is made from a wide variety of other vegetables. It's impossible to imagine Korean cuisine without kimchi.

  • Funchoza with vegetables or meat in a sweet and sour sauce is associated with Korean cuisine. Bean noodles, despite the lack of their own taste, are rich in useful properties. In addition, funchose perfectly absorbs the taste and smell of the products added to it, which gives the taste of the final dish uniformity and harmony.

  • Korean style pork - small slices of pork meat are pre-marinated in soy sauce with the addition of chili, of course. Then they are fried in a hot frying pan and served with rice.

  • Mandu is a type of Korean dumplings. They are boiled in water, steamed or fried. Served with soy vinegar and chili sauce.

  • Tokbokki is a popular Korean street food. Small rice cakes, which are often mixed with other dishes and poured generously with a hot spicy sauce.

Of course, the list can include beets, carrots and other salads that are popular outside of Korea.

There are dishes in Korean cuisine, the name of which causes nausea and denial, but they say that Koreans eat all this with pleasure: silkworm larvae, pork legs, chicken legs, blood sausage or sausage from boiled intestines, fried pork intestines. As they say, tastes differ.
