There are, to put it bluntly, two types of museums of works of art: some exhibit the works of old masters, and others exhibit the works of those who began to work from the end of the XIX century in impressionism, abstractionism, etc.
MoMA in New York
One of the first modern art museums in the United States, which opened in 1929. Its collection includes works by masters from the end of the 19th century, there are about 200 exhibits, including paintings by Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, etc.
The museum's galleries house paintings and sculptures by American authors who have made an incredible contribution to the culture of the country: the famous "Campbell's Soup Cans" by Andy Warhol, "The Drowning Girl" by Roy Lichtenstein, "Christina's World" by Andrew White. Works by talented sculptors, architects and designers are also exhibited here: Richard Serra, Antoni Gaudi, Le Corbusier and others. During the summer months, the museum opens a Sculpture Garden, where you can see many exhibits, including Picasso's Goat.
Tate Modern in London
In 2000, the Tate Modern was opened in the building of the former power plant, which was designed by the famous architect Giles Gilbert Scott. It presents the works of artists who have been working since the beginning of the XX century.
The museum is distinguished by the fact that all the halls are divided into themes: from nudes to landscapes. The collection includes works by famous creators: "Weeping Woman" by Pablo Picasso, "Madonna" by Andy Warhol, paintings by Malevich and Salvador Dali. Visitors have the chance to see a copy of Marcel Duchamp's The Fountain, which became famous for transforming everyday things into works of art.
The museum building houses a café and an observation deck that offers excellent views of the Thames, St. Peter's Basilica and other London attractions.
Museum of Modern Art at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris
The museum's collection includes more than 120 thousand works, including works by Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Egon Schiele and many others. In addition, the museum is rich in magnificent sculptures: for example, "Tree" by Yves Klein, which is painted in a unique blue tone created by the artist himself. Joseph Beuys's project "Plight" is also presented within the walls of the Centre Georges Pompidou: visitors look into a room that is lined with felt, and there is a grand piano in the center of the room.
The area in front of the museum is also striking in its beauty: here, for example, there is the Stravinsky Fountain, in which sculptures come to life and water jets beat to the music of the great composer.
Reina Sofia Center for the Arts in Madrid
The museum began its work in 1992 and today has collected works of art by outstanding Spanish masters: Joan Miró, Juan Gris, Salvador Dali, Luis Buñuel, Oscar Dominguez and many others. Particular attention should be paid to the works of Pablo Picasso: "Guernica", "Fruit Bowl", "Bust and Palette" and others. In addition to Italian masters, the museum's collection includes works by Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, etc.

The cultural center opened its doors to visitors in 1989, and three additional branches were opened in different parts of the country in the 2000s. The main exhibition tells the history of the bank, but the temporary exhibitions attract special attention. For example, in 2019, the gallery opened the most visited exhibitions in the world: one was dedicated to the film company DreamWorks, the second was the exhibition "Roots" by Ai Weiwei.
The architecture of the cultural center also attracts attention. Since its construction in the XIX century, the building housed a bank, later a confectionery was opened here, which operates to this day. Here, in the cultural center, you can visit film festivals, theatrical performances and concerts.
