Easter Island, Chile
The record holder for the distance from the continent is Easter Island, the most secluded settlement in the world. To get here from Chile, you will have to overcome 3500 kilometers of the way. In 1722, the island was discovered by Jacob Roggeve, a traveler from Holland. The island is named after the great Christian holiday, it was opened on the day of the celebration of Easter.
City of La Rinconada, Peru
The city of La Rinconada is located on top of the Andes Mountains at an altitude of 5100 meters. An amazing settlement arose at the end of the last century, formed by its gold miners. The temperature in the city is always below zero, nothing edible grows here, and the air is so rarefied that even a prepared and accustomed person quickly gets tired.
McMurdo, Antarctica
The city at the bottom of the world is McMurdo in Antarctica. There is no indigenous population, only a settlement of American scientists, who laid the city on Ross Island in 1956.
Cape York Peninsula, Australia

Alert, Canada
The northernmost settlement in the world is Alert in Canada. The population does not exceed 70 people, including several meteorologists and military. On the territory of the village there is a meteorological station and a US military base. The climate is harsh: the average temperature in winter is -33 °C.

The inhabited island of Tristan da Cunha is one of the most remote in the world. The distance from South America is 3200 km. The population of the island does not exceed 270 people, and all of them are descendants of the first settlers: 8 men and 7 women who settled on the island in the period from 1816.
