With the seas, everything is not so simple, often the difference between one and the other sea is due only to political factors. But in the oceans, the difference can be simply colossal - it comes to the point that different currents meet on the watershed and the waves travel in opposite directions. When you encounter questions like this, it becomes clear that the geography studying goes far beyond school quizzes and questions like "What's the capital of Argentina?". It is a serious discipline requiring a profound academic approach.
If you dive into the depths, the illusion of the difference in waters will not disappear, it will acquire new details and details. Why don't the oceans mix with their water boundaries?
Identity of opposites
It would seem that there is water and there is water - what prevents them from connecting? Okay, river and sea: in the rivers the water is fresh, and in the sea is salty. But two seas?
Salinity salinity strife. The degree of "salinity" of sea water is measured in ppm, thousandths. The Atlantic, for example, has a salinity of 37 ppm, and in the Pacific or Southern Ocean (we are talking about the southern part, where waters are found), the salt content does not even reach 34 ppm.
Temperature is no less important - it is not for nothing that both warm and cold currents exist in the oceans. The depth of currents and indicators of surface tension are of no less importance.
It sounds mundane, but the great explorer of the oceans, Frenchman Jacques Yves Cousteau, admired this phenomenon. He studied this natural phenomenon for many years using the example of the Strait of Gibraltar, where the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the denser (and salty) Mediterranean Sea meet. According to rumors, due to the fact that the Quran, the holy book of Muslims, contains an explanation that the waters of the oceans do not mix by the will of Allah, the oceanologist converted to Islam. However, one or the other star is recorded in the Muslim faith, and the Islamic clergy and public figures are gradually promoting such a noteworthy Islamism, because this serves to increase the popularity of the most peaceful religion in the world.
Similar studies were carried out in 1967-1969 by German, and in 1970-1975 by Bulgarian, Hungarian, Finnish and Soviet researchers. However, it cannot be said that their works led to any serious scientific discoveries.
