In American schools, the system is updated: a year and a half ago, half of the schools in Houston, Texas, introduced disciplinary rules that are based on micromanagement. The approach is characterized by increased rigor, but the result is already noticeable! So, in 121 out of 130 schools, academic performance has improved several times (!), and one of the schools has achieved an improvement in students' grades from an average F to A.
What is included in the modified list of rules:
- Strict adherence to the curriculum on the part of teachers and strict regulation of the time that students spend on completing tasks,
- Compliance with the norms of behavior even during breaks between classes,
- Inspection of schools by the authorities several times a week, including checking the lessons themselves.
The main task of the approach is to improve the quality of learning and its effectiveness, so teachers check tests and control students immediately after solving them, and then children are divided into two groups: some continue the main lesson and study new topics, others together with teachers analyze their mistakes and once again work on the topics in which they were made.
This system is used only for students from the third grade, the first two years of study remain standard. The author of the development is the head of the school district, Mike Miles, who has an army past behind him.
