Seeing the sea in winter and not getting sick: how to adapt to climate change

Those who like to go to warm countries for the winter months know how difficult it can be to get used to the changed temperatures, but they have time to adapt and have a good time abroad. What happens when people escape from the frost for a while, but then return closer to the holidays? Sometimes in such a situation, under the Christmas tree, you can find not only gifts, but also problematic acclimatization!

We tell you how to minimize the damage if you really want to travel, but you don't want to get sick all over the holiday weekend (and who has it?).

Stay longer in warm climes if you have the opportunity

As we said at the beginning of the article, people who go closer to the sun for a long time acclimatize faster and less traumatic for the body. Usually, our body rebuilds in new conditions from two days to a week, so short-term trips will not please, but will only knock you out of your usual rut. The minimum period for a comfortable and pleasant stay is ten days, and the upper limit is the longer the better.

Stock up on vitamins and adaptogens

Of course, there will be plenty of fresh fruits in warm countries, but it is better to start fortification of the body a week or two before departure. Usually, doctors recommend taking vitamins E and C, but it is better to consult your therapist personally: at a personal consultation, a specialist can prescribe you adaptogens, which help strengthen the body's protection and resistance to all harmful external factors, accelerate its ability to adapt to a new climate.

By the way, of the additional food additives, our favorite and vital water will be useful. Especially when you find yourself in another country, the amount of drink per day should be increased. On routine days, we do not always keep track of how much water we drink, and this may not particularly affect our health, but when the climate changes from cold to heat, the body cannot cope without regular drinking. The minimum volume of water in hot and dry climates is two liters per day.

The closer the warm country, the better

If you live in cold regions, then a winter vacation in countries with a constant temperature of +40 ° C and above will not be a pleasant pastime for you. Medical experts recommend choosing countries for a trip in which the climate is similar to the summer you are used to at home. Also time zones play an important role in choosing a country to travel to: the hotter the climate and the longer the hour gap, the longer it will take you to get used to the new conditions.

Practice living in a different time zone in advance

By the way, about the time difference. If you still want to radically change the location, then you can help your body a little so that it quickly joins the local rhythm and regime on the spot. Two or three weeks before departure, start gradually changing your sleep patterns, such as going to bed and waking up earlier if you plan to fly east. If to the West, then, on the contrary, do all this later than usual. But do not make sudden changes, accustom the body to the new rhythm smoothly.

Do not rush into the whirlpool and the sea with your head

Rest, as well as introducing loads into life, should be gradual. Running straight from the plane to the beach and staying there from morning to night is not a good idea. In the first two or three days on vacation, try to alternate the amount of time outdoors and indoors.

Do not forget to use protective equipment: cream, glasses, hats.

The recommendation to gradually go on vacation also applies to food experiments, especially if you come to a new country for yourself. Fatty dishes, exotic combinations - leave all this for the third or fourth day of your stay in the country, and on the first day choose lighter and more familiar food. Alcohol tastings are also better to shift in the vacation schedule for a couple of days.

Reacclimatization is also important

Getting used to a vacation is half the battle, and recovering after returning is the other half. So don't run on the first day to do a spring cleaning, meet all your friends or close work tasks that you postponed before departure! Give yourself a couple of days to recover: get enough sleep, drink a mini-course of vitamins again, and start doing your usual things gradually.
