Burnout from studying: how to help a child

Burnout from studying: how to help a child

Children often get tired of studying: difficult lessons, conflicts with teachers and classmates have a negative effect on the psyche. We help the student cope with burnout – unfortunately, it happens to both children and teenagers!

How to understand that the child is tired?

To begin with, you need to observe and talk to understand what is the cause of fatigue. Here are some signs that the child is burned out and exhausted:

  • He has disturbed sleep. The child may be very tired at school, but cannot fall asleep until late at night, but during the day he pecks his nose. Sleep disturbance is one of the clearest signs of burnout;
  • Overeating or malnutrition: A student may eat several servings at a time or eat a small amount of food;
  • Sorrow. You can be lazy in the fall, when the weather is bad outside, and some people feel sad and empty during burnout. Important: do not confuse sadness and depression! The latter is a serious disease, and if you see signs of depression, then you need to consult a specialist with your child;
  • Grades are deteriorating. It is also a sign of burnout. Due to fatigue and loss of interest, the child's academic performance deteriorates, this can upset him even more, and then it is more difficult to get out of this swamp.

If you see these moments in the child's behavior, then you need to help him.

How to support a child

It is quite easy to restore strength and regain interest in learning - the main thing is to agree with the child on the implementation of a few rules.

No social media

We are not talking about a complete ban, but to limit the time in front of the phone to one hour a day. Agree that the child will not sit on social networks before going to bed, but rather read a book or watch an interesting movie.

Reduce the workload

Revise the schedule and reduce the number of classes in sections so that there is more time to rest. The child will be able to return to the previous rhythm at any time, but only after he feels good.

Physical Culture Minutes

Exercises will help you feel better physically and mentally. You don't have to run 10 kilometers every day! Get into the habit of doing a light warm-up with your child, do exercises for the eyes, back, neck and spine. It's even better if you do yoga together – it's easy and fun.

If all of the above methods did not help, contact a child psychologist, consult with your child and think together about how you can improve his condition.
