Everything you need to know about ecotourism in Russia

Everything you need to know about ecotourism in Russia

The coronavirus has forced us to re-evaluate the importance of travel. Coronavirus infection has forced many to reach out to nature, and ecotourism from the hobby of several dozen freaks has become a refuge for a huge number of people. About the varieties of such tourism and its development, the most famous sites - in our today's material.

What is ecotourism?

We are talking about the method of travel with minimal damage to the world around us. They have become popular thanks to the concept of a green agenda and a change of vector in the relationship between man and the environment.

We discover the world, learn new places, and all this – without leaving behind a trace of garbage and a broken biosphere.

Ecological trails

The trail is a route for tourists or ordinary walks, equipped in such a way that, passing through it, people can admire little-known natural objects. Trails often include historical and cultural sites located in hard-to-reach places, in the wild, which, in combination with active recreation, allows you to expand your horizons and take a different look at the surrounding natural diversity.

Our tourism department and regional colleagues will have to create many such trails – they attract tourists: just look at the renaissance of the Mississippi Delta in the United States after the creation of a network of ecological trails. It is one of the world's largest river deltas, constantly changing configuration and growing. Some travelers come back here to see the situation in dynamics.

We recommend taking a look at:

  • Reserve "Krasnoyarsk Pillars"
  • The coast of Komarovo in the Leningrad region (yes, yes, the one from the song about the "week")
  • Any hiking routes in the Moscow region.

Rural tourism

Another type of ecotourism, in addition to recreational, solves the utilitarian task of maintaining the pants of agricultural producers. Travelers live on private farms, eat the products they grew, bought with a ringing coin, and also learn about the history of their native (or not so) land.

Depending on who organized the tour, you can work in the fields or beds, go to the forest for mushrooms, take care of animals in stables and stalls.

Where to go:

  • Dairy farm in the Tula region, where cheeses, yogurts, cottage cheese are made and meat and poultry are grown for slaughter.
  • In Astashkov (Kostroma region) there is a wooden estate in the style of ancient Russia - with a tower and chambers. There is also a museum of everyday life. Anachronism anyone can rent a great or quad bike.

Children's ecotourism

It began to be singled out as a separate direction of agricultural tourism. It differs from an adult in master classes and a variety of activities that teach children to take care of the environment.

Ideal places for this can be considered:

  • Nesterov Ecofarm in Tver Province. Here you can take care of poultry or livestock, ride a horse, on snowmobiles or boats, walk in the forest. In addition, there are numerous classes with children for every taste.
  • Eco-estate "Miroedovo" in the Smolensk region. The entertainment is the same plus the orchard.

Volunteer tourism

A relatively recent option for Russia. It is focused on both young and family holidays, provides an opportunity to feel involved in something important, bright and large, as well as to do something with your own hands. When traveling, you remove man-made "guesses" from parks or farms, mark trails, repair fences or fences and the like.

In this case, an organized rest seems more reasonable. In Russia, such an organizer is the program for volunteers "Great Baikal Trail", which is aimed at creating eco-routes in the Lake Baikal region. Tickets are purchased independently, on the spot you need to pay the registration fee, after which you can get tents and tools, campfire equipment, a stock of medicines. Everything is under the supervision of an interpreter and coordinator. Procurement of products is centralized.

Sports tourism

This is diving, and cycling, and skiing, including mountain, and orienteering. A huge advantage is accessibility, those who wish very often do not need to go anywhere at all (the biggest is a couple of stops on the bus or train).

And where do you look for that?

  • Bicycle routes are full in the capital and the Moscow region. You can ride in cities such as Korolev, Shatura, Sergiev Posad or Dmitrov and Kolomna, or one of the national parks.
  • There are still options in the Altai Territory, the Crimean Peninsula and the Kuban. In Altai, there are horse routes designed for the length of the route from 7 to 14 days.
