University preparation in England UK

How can I check whether the university I have chosen is accredited?

Unfortunately, there is no single central body responsible for accreditation in the United States. Non-governmental authorized bodies may voluntarily accredit higher education institutions, schools, and colleges to determine whether they meet national educational standards. You can find information on the website https://www.chea.org. Keep in mind that if you choose an unaccredited institution, you will most likely be denied a US student visa.

Can I enroll in an English university immediately after graduating from a school in my country, without taking the IB course? Maybe I just need to pass an interview or take the TOEFL test?

In order to be sure of successfully entering a university in Western Europe or the UK, foreign graduates should complete a two-year preparatory program, which is offered by many international colleges. This could be the IB (International Baccalaureate) you mentioned, A-level, or there is also a one-year Foundation program (but it is practically not taken into account by the top-ranked universities). The admissions committee will need to be provided with a secondary school diploma, a reference from the previous place of study, a transcript of grades for the previous 3 years, and a handwritten essay (“Why I want to study at your school”). You will also most likely need to demonstrate your English language proficiency with a certificate, pass subject-specific exams (mathematics and some other subjects), and attend a personal interview.

I am finishing 11th grade this year and, unfortunately, have only just started thinking about applying to a British university (I know English very well). Can I apply this year, or will I need an additional year of preparation?

You can already apply for preparatory programs in the UK. It is not possible for foreign students to enroll in university immediately after the 11th grade. With good academic performance and a good knowledge of English, you can easily apply for a place at any international college on an IB or A-level course (they are designed for 2 years).

I live in Moldova and have Moldovan citizenship. Do I have the opportunity to enroll in a university in England? I have a certificate of 12 years of education.

Of course, you can enroll in a university in England with sufficient diligence and a sufficiently high level of knowledge. But first, you must complete a preparatory course at an English international college. In your situation (taking into account your diploma), we recommend the Foundation preparatory course (1 year), which should be sufficient.

What is the best way to enter UK university? I am finishing 10th grade and preparing to take the CAE language exam.

The most reliable and proven methods are preparatory programs at British boarding schools and international colleges: A-levelIB and Foundation (1 year). But they can not be called cheap: education in the UK is generally quite expensive, and programs for high school students and college students are no exception. You can view the current cost (and it depends on the level of the chosen school) in the description of each school.

My son is finishing 11th grade, we live in Kazakhstan, and we want him to continue his education in the UK. He has studied English throughout his school education and also has regular lessons with a tutor. What else do we need to do to ensure his successful admission? When do we need to submit the documents? What is the approximate cost of higher education in the UK?

Immediately after graduating from high school, you will not be able to enroll in a British university, only in pre-university preparatory programs: this is due to the differences in the educational systems of the UK and the CIS countries. The spring session of entrance exams usually starts in February-March, which is about six months before the start of classes in the fall, so you can still apply this year if you gather your documents quickly and prepare for the entrance exams.

The package of documents that need to be submitted to boarding schools for preliminary preparation includes:

  • Report card with grades for the last 2-3 years
  • Character reference from previous school, letters of recommendation from teachers (preferably English and math teachers)
  • A short essay about yourself and your plans and goals (approximately 1 printed page, maximum 2)
  • Certificate of international examinations in English, if any (for example, IELTS, TOEFL, TEFL).

These documents, along with the completed application, are sent to the schools and international colleges you have chosen (we will, of course, help you determine the most priority options). If you doubt your knowledge of English, we can recommend intensive preparatory programs A-level or IB (they are designed for two years), or work with a tutor.

The cost of studying at private boarding schools and international colleges is 26 000-30 000 pounds per academic year.

I completed three years of study at a university (medicine) in my native country and decided to continue my education in a similar program in the UK. To begin with, I enrolled and completed the first year of a bachelor's degree at a British university (applied biology). Here, my grades from the university were counted as my final high school grades (my certificate was for 11 years of schooling). However, universities are now refusing to allow me to pursue clinical medical education, claiming that I attended a different medical school and that student transfers are not possible. Is this true? Do all universities adhere to this policy, or do I still have a chance? Perhaps I should simply not mention that I already studied at a medical university, and only provide my school certificate and the results of my first year of study at a British university on the relevant program?

British universities often refuse to admit and educate students from medical universities and faculties from some countries. In order to achieve the goal, it is necessary to pass qualification exams perfectly, demonstrate your work experience (CV, references from employers and colleagues), and provide various recommendations. You can be offered a place on the course of biomedicine.

I am finishing my third year (Faculty of International Relations) and after graduation I plan to enroll in a master's program at the University of Aberdeen. Is this possible?

Yes, if your academic performance, range of subjects studied, and level of English are high enough to meet the requirements for a master's degree, you will be able to enroll in the first year.

I want to enroll in a university in the UK and I am interested in the biotechnology department. I am 15 years old, have twice won first place in specialized biology, chemistry, and physics competitions, and have excellent grades, but my language proficiency is insufficient. What can I do to get admitted, and which university, department, and program would you recommend?

Immediately after graduating from school, apply for UK pre-university programs:  A-level or IB or a one-year Foundation (although the latter is not accepted by the most prestigious and highly ranked universities). You can find out about the requirements of a particular university for applicants directly from the educational institution — we are ready to provide you with up-to-date information on all selected universities.

I am a third-year student at a university (Faculty of International Relations). I would like to transfer to England (I am also considering Scotland) to complete my studies there. Could you tell me how much it would cost and what are my next steps?

For admission to the chosen university you will need to confirm a sufficient level of English (usually an IELTS certificate is required), write an essay, and collect all the required documents (the list is impressive, but standard, our consultant will provide you with more details). Sometimes foreign universities also require specialized exams, such as GRE, GMAT, or others. The main thing to keep in mind is that even after completing 3 years of study in other countries at the University of England and Scotland, you will only be eligible for the first year of a university program in England or Scotland. If you had managed to complete a bachelor's degree program (four to five years), you would have been eligible to apply for master's programs in the UK.

I am studying at the University (Faculty of Law, 4th year). I plan to continue my studies in England and I am considering the IB program. Will I be able to work while studying, and if so, how much? I would like to cover part of my tuition costs. How much does education cost in England?

We would advise you to consider master's programs: they cost around £15,000 and last approximately 15 months (but can take anywhere from one to two years). In addition, master's students should factor in the cost of accommodation, food, transport, and other urban infrastructure, which can add up to £25,000-30,000 for the entire period of study.

A student visa will only allow you to work 20 hours per week, for example, working evenings and weekends in a café. However, this will only provide you with pocket money and will not cover the cost of your studies.

I am completing a bachelor's degree program at a university in my native country. Please recommend UK universities offering MA programs with English-language programs in economics.

You can find these courses at many universities in the UK: from the most prestigious and famous we note LSE, UCL, Warwick, and Durham.

I am from Kazakhstan and graduated from the Eurasian University, Faculty of International Relations. What are my options for studying in England (majors and universities) and how much do they cost?

We can offer you a variety of master's programs: the duration of studying is about 15 months, and tuition fees are approximately £15,000. Among the most suitable universities we note LSE and Imperial London College. Our specialist can select other options for you after a more detailed assessment of your needs, opportunities, and conditions.

I am interested in applying to the University of Bristol (I am also open to considering other British universities). I am currently finishing my secondary education. I am fluent in English, regularly participate in various academic competitions, and have twice won the citywide computer science competition.

We would like to reassure you that being under 18 is not an obstacle to entering universities in Britain. However, we recommend that you find out whether you will need to complete a pre-university preparatory program, such as a one-year Foundation course. This depends on whether you have completed 11 or 13 years of secondary education and how well your school's curriculum meets the rigorous requirements of British universities. We recommend choosing at least five priority universities to increase your chances of successful admission.

My son is currently completing the Foundation Art and Design course at the Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts. Will he be able to enroll at the University of Edinburgh or University College London after graduation?

Our specialists can assist you with entering Cambridge School of Visual and Performing Arts. According to rankings and official lists, design and art programs are taught at 74 British universities, including Edinburgh and UCLManchester University.

Is there a program or major in international law at British universities? If so, which prestigious and highly ranked options can you recommend?

As a rule, at universities in the UK international law programs are divided into segments of study: separate legal sections, countries, or groups of countries, so it is quite difficult to give a precise answer to your question. We can draw your attention to universities such as Durham, Exeter, Lancaster, LSE, UCL, Oxford, Sheffield, and Warwick — it seems that they have what you need.

I am finishing my second year of the University and plan to get a second degree in England. Could you please tell me exactly what certificates and diplomas I need to present to the admissions committee? Which preparatory college is best to choose? Which universities would you recommend if I am interested in studying art?

We will be able to give you specific recommendations once we have a more detailed understanding of your academic and language proficiency levels. In general, you will need a high level of English (IELTS 6.5 or above), to write an essay (about yourself, your interests, and your goals), and to provide a transcript with good grades and positive recommendations from teachers. The Art program is available at universities such as UCL, Edinburgh and Loughborough.

My daughter is graduating from high school soon, and we are planning for her to apply to Cambridge. Which school or college is best to choose for preparation in order to have the best chance of successful admission? Perhaps there are educational institutions that guarantee further admission?

You need to choose two-year preparatory courses, which are offered by many schools and colleges in the UK, including many elite and prestigious ones. Most students choose the IB (International Baccalaureate) or A-level programs. It will be easier for a foreigner to enroll in an international college, as admission to a British school is more difficult and can be psychologically difficult for a child (only after graduating, returning to school again). Unfortunately, prestigious universities such as Cambridge do not offer “discounts” or priorities for any preparatory educational institutions — all applicants, regardless of where they were educated, are admitted on equal terms.

I am finishing my fifth year at the University of Oil and Gas (Faculty of Economics) and have a good command of English (Upper Intermediate level). I would like to obtain a European degree in Economics and Finance and I am considering studying in England, specifically at Oxford or Cambridge. What do I need to do to apply? Where can I get comprehensive preparation and improve my level of English? Please tell me how much will it cost, how long it will take, and what the living conditions are like for students at these universities.

You have chosen a difficult task. Top universities such as Oxford and Cambridge select applicants strictly and rigorously. The best way to confirm your level of knowledge is to take the GRE or GMAT qualifying exams.

As for the cost and duration of study, living conditions, and infrastructure, you can find all this information in the description of a particular university. For your convenience, we provide all the details, even the smallest ones.

My daughter wants to study at Oxford and pursue a degree in the humanities — history or literature. She is currently finishing 11th grade. What preparatory program should we choose, and which school or college should we consider? Is it possible to rent accommodation directly in Oxford, close to the campus, and can one of the parents live with the child during their studies.

The best options for pre-university preparation remain the two-year IB (International Baccalaureate) and A-level (classic British standard). They are taught in many private schools and international colleges. We recommend that you pay attention to:

Of course, it is possible to rent an apartment in Oxford, this is a common accommodation option among British and foreign students. However, parents can only live with their children if they obtain an investor visa, which is difficult and very expensive. You can apply for a multiple-entry UK visa — initially issued for six months, and subsequently renewable for a year — and visit your child on weekends, holidays, and vacations.

The cost of tuition and accommodation varies between different preparatory schools and colleges. You can expect to pay around $60,000-70,000 (total cost per year), and you can find more detailed information about prices in each school's profile.

I am planning to study on the Foundation program at an international college in Britain. Is it possible to start studying in January next year?

Yes, many international colleges offer this course starting in January, but in this case, you should hurry up with your preparations, gathering and sending documents, and applying for a visa. Contact our specialist as soon as possible!

My son is graduating from school and has chosen to become a doctor. What specialized educational institutions in England can you recommend?

Many universities offer similar programs — take a look at Cardiff, Dundee, Imperial College London, King's (London), UCL, Aberdeen, Bristol, Durham, Glasgow, and Nottingham. Your son will need to complete a two-year pre-university program and, most likely, pass a qualifying exam (required specifically by medical schools). A good, highly-rated international college is the best option for preparation—we will help you choose the best option.

My daughter is finishing her fourth year at an architecture institute. Is it possible to transfer to a British university to study a similar specialty? After 4.5 years of study here, she will receive a bachelor's degree, and in a year and a half, a specialist degree (architecture). What should we do, and where should we start? Is it possible to transfer before she receives her bachelor's degree? She has an FCE certificate.

We can offer you the opportunity to obtain a bachelor's degree and then apply to a UK university for a master's degree. However, in this case, an FCE certificate will not be sufficient, you will need an IELTS certificate with a score of 7.0 or higher.

Theoretically, it is possible to obtain a scholarship, but this is a difficult and unlikely process due to the high requirements for students.

We can advise you (if applying for a master's degree is an option for you) to improve your English language skills and pass the IELTS exams with good results, prepare a strong portfolio, and take a summer or seasonal course at a British educational institution of the relevant profile — our specialist will select the best option for you.

I am finishing 11th grade (I study in Latvia, where secondary education lasts 12 years). I want to get a higher education in the UK (I am particularly interested in LSE), but I cannot choose an institution to study for my A-levels.
I am a fourth-year student at the University. I am completing my bachelor's degree this year. Can I apply for a master's degree in England? If so, where do I start, what do I need to do? My English level is excellent (Advanced).

Yes, you are eligible to apply for a place on a master's program at a British university. The documents you have collected are usually sent out before the Christmas holidays in order to be included in the main application batch. You must pass the IELTS exam (with a score of at least 7.0), write an essay (about yourself, your interests, plans, and goals), confirm your academic knowledge (preferably by passing the GMAT qualifying exam), and translate your completed study plan into English.

What preparatory courses are best for foreign students if I want to enroll in a British university?

You should consider private boarding schools or international colleges (the latter are more preferable for foreigners). They offer a one-year Foundation course, two-year IB and A-level courses. Our specialist can help you choose the right program and institution for you after listening to your goals and requirements in more detail.

I study and live in Kazakhstan (Astana). Last summer, I attended language courses at St. Clare's, and I would like to repeat the trip and study there under the IB (International Baccalaureate) program. Are there any other English colleges with similar programs and conditions?

Of course, there are many good international colleges in the UK. You can find descriptions and photos of them in the relevant section of the website catalog or contact our specialist directly, and they will select the best option for you. For example, they may recommend:

I am finishing my first year at the university in my native country (law faculty), and at the same time I am studying to become an interpreter in the field of professional communications. Do I have a chance to transfer or enroll at Cambridge? What do I need to do? How much does it cost?

Detailed information about tuition fees can be found in the description of Cambridge University on our website. You will need to complete pre-university programs at one of the international colleges or private schools in Britain, as direct admission of foreign schoolchildren, as well as student transfers, is not possible. In addition, you can enroll at Cambridge in the master's program you are interested in.

I want to study in the UK, specifically in London. I am currently a first-year student at the university in my native country. Can the course I have already completed be credited, or will I have to start the course again with the other applicants? Will I be able to combine my education in the UK and in the other university?

Yes, due to differences in secondary school curricula in some countries and the UK, students who have completed two years of study at a university can only enroll in the first year of a foreign university. It is not possible to combine studies in the two countries, as academic requirements for students in England are very high.

We want to send our daughter (16 years old) to study abroad. Where should we start? She has never been on a trip like this before.

It appears that you are selecting schools or colleges for pre-university preparation based on your child's age. In this case, the procedure is as follows:

  • Take mock exams to identify strengths and weaknesses and assess the overall level of knowledge and language proficiency
  • Work with us to select a suitable educational institution and send a package of documents to their admissions committees (we will help you collect them and, if necessary, translate them)
  • Pass the real entrance exams set by the school or college
  • Visit the selected campuses for an introductory tour and make a final decision on the institution
  • Apply for a visa and book airline tickets.
I want to study at English universities. Could you tell me the approximate cost, what is included in it, and what is paid separately (I am particularly interested in accommodation and meals)? How (and by when) can I pay for my studies? It would be great if you could help me collect the documents and obtain a visa. How much would it cost, if this is possible?

We will answer your questions briefly, because there is a lot of information and it is very extensive – our specialist can provide you with details in person (at the office or remotely).

The prices of university programs can vary significantly, they depend on the prestige and rating of the educational institution, its location, the chosen faculty or specialty. You can expect to pay between £10,000 and £35,000 per academic year. Usually, the cost of accommodation and meals is paid separately, and the price includes everything you may need specifically for your studies (books and manuals, textbooks, use of the library and laboratories, etc.). The amount is paid before the start of the academic year (usually in September), and the most convenient method is usually a bank transfer.

Our enrollment and admission services are free of charge! Our assistance here is free of charge, as we work with educational institutions as partners, not as intermediaries. Of course, at your request, we will help you collect the required documents, provide professional translation of the necessary texts, and make an appointment at the consulate to obtain a visa at a time convenient for you (usually, obtaining a British visa requires personal attendance).

Can I enroll in a British university without taking exams?

Yes, admission to universities in the UK usually does not require entrance exams: you only need to provide proof of your English language proficiency (the academic version of IELTS is acceptable). The exceptions are top universities, such as Oxford and Cambridge, which select their students very carefully and strictly, with a rigorous selection process. As a cost-effective option, we can recommend a master's degree course — it takes only a year and gives you the opportunity to obtain a British diploma, but to do so, you will need to obtain your first higher education degree (bachelor's degree, 4 years).

I am looking for a program or faculty in International Relations at British universities. Please help me choose a university!

Many universities in Britain offer an International Relations program, which is exactly what you need. In total, there are more than 40 such universities, including the University of ExeterSt. Andrew's, Warwick, and LSE.

At which universities in England can I study Persian? I am specifically interested in a master's degree program.

Farsi can be studied at Oxford and Cambridge, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Manchester, and SOAS (located in London).

I am looking for a good, prestigious, inexpensive, and fast way to get into a university in England. Is this possible for foreign students?

A master's program would be best suited to your situation: it takes only a year to complete and gives you the opportunity to obtain a degree from a British university. To do this, you must first complete a higher education degree at a foreign university (bachelor's degree, preferably at least 4 years of study).

I want to apply to Cambridge University and get a prestigious higher education. I have read that foreign students must obtain the highest scores on the Unified State Exam in the subjects they plan to study at university. How many points are allocated for the A-level certificate? Is this requirement appropriate for subjects that are not related to my chosen profession? Also, please clarify whether it is true that Cambridge only accepts students who are 18 years old. If I need to finish school, gather documents, and prepare with a tutor beforehand, I will already be 19 by the time I apply (next year). Are there any effective courses that can increase my chances as an applicant?

The best option for you would be to take a two-year pre-university course immediately after graduating from your school. Theoretically, you could also enroll in a foreign university, study for a bachelor's degree for two years, and then apply to a university in England. Alternatively, you could obtain a bachelor's degree and apply to an English university for a master's degree program.

The thing is that the level of the Unified State Exam does not reach the level of complexity and depth of knowledge that is offered to children at A-level, so it is practically impossible to compare them. That is why foreign schoolchildren cannot enter British universities immediately after graduation.

Last year, my son tried to apply to a British university (it was UCL), but he was literally 1-2 points short. He was offered a place at Westminster University. Does it make sense to wait until next year and try again to get into UCL? Maybe he could finish his bachelor's degree at Westminster University and then apply for a master's degree at UCL or a similar university?

If your son did not achieve the required score in the IB program, there is still a chance to prove his level of knowledge and preparation to UCL. Contact the school where he studied, provide letters of recommendation and references from teachers, the principal, and his tutor. With enough persistence, there is a small but real chance that you will still be able to enroll at UCL without losing a year.

After completing your bachelor's degree at Westminster University, you can apply for a master's degree at the coveted UCL, provided your final grade is high enough and satisfies the admissions committee. The main thing is to consider the quality of teaching in the specific field your son has chosen — often, the same field of study can vary significantly between different universities.

I am planning to get a higher education in the UK, in London. I am interested in King's College London and London's Global University. Which language exam is better to take for successful admission, IELTS or TOEFL?

For British universities, IELTS for UKVI is definitely preferable.

I already have a bachelor's degree obtained in my native country (I studied for 4 years). Can I apply for a master's program in the UK, or is work experience in my field required?

In general, you can count on being admitted to a master's program. Usually, no practical work experience is required for admission (unlike, for example, an MBA program).

I am planning to apply to the London School of Economics (LSE). Can I apply for a master's program if I already have a bachelor's degree? I am interested in the Finance and Accounting course in London. I have an IELTS certificate (score 7.0) and some work experience at Ernst & Young. Do I have to take the GMAT qualifying exam?

To be admitted to the LSE, we recommend that you improve your IELTS score to 7.5 and confirm your academic level (the best way to do this is to attend the LSE Summer School and pass the GRE qualification exam). Work experience will be an advantage and will complement your application perfectly.

Can I study in the UK with a major in Foreign Regional Studies, Chinese Studies, or Japanese Studies? Which universities offer such programs? I am also interested in Japanese or Chinese language programs. I am particularly interested in Oxford and Cambridge.

Yes, both Oxford and Cambridge offer the specializations you mentioned. We can also point to Edinburgh University, EBS (European Business School), and SOAS.

I would like to continue my studies in the UK in the field of International Relations. I have a master's degree (law, criminal law). What documents do I need to prepare and what exams will I have to take? Can you recommend any specific universities?

Given your level of education, you are well qualified to apply for a place on a master's program at a British university: to do so, you will need to supplement your application with an IELTS certificate with a score of at least 7.5. Some universities will also ask for a degree in a related discipline (e.g., Political Science). Our specialist will be able to recommend a suitable university after learning more about your goals and requirements — there are many such offers, so you will have plenty to choose from.

I want to study politics or macroeconomics in England. Which university would you recommend? What documents do I need to collect and what exams do I need to prepare for?

You may wish to consider LSE, Warwick, and Durham, depending on your preferences. Our specialist will provide you with details regarding the admission process and the required documents. To do so, we will need to discuss your goals and preferences in more detail and determine your preferred educational institution.

Is it possible to study English, Korean, and Japanese at the same time at universities in the UK? Which universities and programs would you recommend?

One of the best options for your situation would be London University SOAS.

Our son (17 years old) is studying at a construction college, and we want to give him a foreign higher education in the field of Construction of buildings. But he does not speak any foreign languages. We are ready to start learning the language that will be required. What options do we have?

There are many university options – we need to clarify your goals and requirements, wishes for your future career and specialization in more detail. After that, we will select the country, region, and city of study, educational institution, and program for you, clarify the admission requirements, and begin preparing the student. Of course, to study at a foreign university, you will need to know the language at a high level – it makes sense to enroll in long-term (for example, one-year) language courses. These are available in almost all countries, including such comfortable options as Malta – the island is home to many highly-rated and reputable language centers.

I am 46 years old, and I would like to get a higher education in England. My English level is Advanced, and I have a basic higher education. Are there any university programs for students of my age?

Of course! More than 20% of all British universities accept students over the age of 35, so your chances are quite high. You need to specify your preferred program and specialization, and we will select the best option for you, check availability, and clarify the admission requirements for applicants. The final decision, of course, is made by the admissions committee, but with the right and balanced approach to admission, we see no obstacles to your studies.

I want to continue my studies in the UK in the field of philology. Is this possible? Which educational institutions would you recommend?

Take a look at master's programs at British universities — these courses offer a wide range of linguistic specialties. There are more than 30 such universities in total, and we recommend UCL, Oxford Brookes, and Greenwich.

I am planning to obtain a second higher education degree in economics at a British university. Which universities can you recommend, and what are the admission requirements and conditions?

In order to find the best university for you, we need to clarify your academic and language level, as British universities are quite strict in their selection of applicants. You can familiarize yourself with the list of universities in our catalogs, obtain general information, and select your preferred options. Our consultant will help you narrow down the list and make your final decision.

I am studying to become an urban planner, and after graduating from university, I want to continue my education at a British university. Are there any universities in the UK that offer my specialty?

Of course, there are plenty of similar offers. For example, there are master's programs in Architecture at such prestigious universities as:

Can I enroll in the master's program at the University of Warwick (Financial Mathematics)? I already have a bachelor's degree, but my GPA is low, less than 4.0.

To be admitted, you need to confirm your high level of knowledge. You can complete a course at a special summer school, pass the GMAT or GRE qualification exams, take a special test at an education center, and, if possible, demonstrate the achievements you have made during your studies at a university (academic achievements will be given priority).

My son is completing his IB course in England and plans to apply to study Political Science at a London university. What are the requirements for applicants with an IB certificate?

Your child's tutor can provide the most detailed information on this issue — they are the ones who have the latest information about specific universities.

I want to continue my studies at LSE this year. I am currently studying at the Financial University. My English level is quite low. Do I have a chance of being admitted?

Admission to the LSE is a rather complicated and lengthy process. You need to improve your grades and achievements while studying at your current university, significantly improve your English language skills, and obtain an IELTS certificate with sufficiently high scores. It would also be useful to attend the LSE summer school and pass the qualifying exams. In any case, if you study hard and intensively, if not the LSE, then other universities will offer you a place among their students.

My daughter is finishing 9th grade (she is 16 years old) and plans to study medicine (specifically, dentistry). We think she should finish English college first and then apply to university, is that right? Which colleges would you recommend in our situation?

Yes, you have planned everything correctly! You need to complete a two-year course (A-level or IB), choosing subjects that will be studied at medical school (at least biology and chemistry). You can complete a preparatory program at a variety of private boarding schools and international colleges. We will help you choose the right program and institution based on your wishes, needs, and capabilities. Also, keep in mind that upon admission, your daughter will not only have to present her A-level or IB certificate, but also pass a specialized exam in medicine.

I study in Kharkiv. Can I enroll in a law school in London without completing the mandatory two-year program? I have heard that there is a one-year Foundation course. Would it be suitable for me? Are there any advantages to it besides its short duration? I want to get a higher education abroad without wasting time. If I get a bachelor's degree at my university, can I apply to a master's program in England immediately after graduation?

If your academic and language levels are high enough and you can prove this to the admissions committee, you will be eligible to enroll in the first year of your chosen British university. It is better to check the requirements for applicants (especially foreign applicants) at a particular university in advance so that you know what to expect from the admissions committee. If you obtain a bachelor's degree in Ukraine, you can also apply for a place on a master's program at universities in Britain (but keep in mind that your bachelor's and master's degrees must be in the same field).

I need your advice regarding my chances of getting into Cambridge or Oxford. I am 15 years old, in 9th grade, and I want to finish 10th and 11th grades as an external student in one year. My priorities in subjects are those areas that I plan to study at university. I think it would be a good idea to spend the year I have freed up by taking external exams at a Foundation program at Oxford or Cambridge to improve my chances of admission. Is this strategy correct? Do I have a chance? Can you suggest a better option? I am interested in the economics department, is there one at Oxford and Cambridge?

Unfortunately, neither of these universities recognizes the Foundation certificate as sufficient proof of an applicant's level of knowledge. You will need an A-level or IB certificate. Our specialist can tell you more about the conditions and how to obtain them if you are willing to change your application path and insist on choosing these prestigious universities.

I am studying at Azerbaijan State Economic University (Faculty of International Economic Relations). Do I have a chance of being admitted to the London School of Economics master's program? I am particularly interested in the MPA (public administration) course. Can I apply if my current and future specializations do not match? What documents do I need to prepare, and do I need to take the GRE or GMAT qualifying exams?

You approach the issue with sufficient care and expertise, which is very encouraging! Yes, you will need to take the GMAT or its British equivalent, the GRE, and it would also be useful to attend the LSE Summer School. You will most likely be able to enroll in your chosen master's program, as the specializations are quite similar, but only the admissions committee can give you a definite answer.

Which university is better, Oxford or Cambridge?

Academic and sports rankings, lists of successful alumni (who have become writers, politicians, prime ministers, and Nobel Prize winners), and even the results of annual regattas are constantly being compared! But we are confident that whatever choice you make, studying at one of these universities will open up extraordinary career opportunities for you and allow you to join the ranks of the political and economic elite.

I am finishing my third year of university in my home country. Next year, I will receive my bachelor's degree. Can I enroll in a master's program in the UK immediately after graduating from university? Are there any discounts for international students?

Yes, some British universities are ready to accept you into a master's program after completing your fourth year. As for scholarships, discounts, and grants, we recommend that you check this information with a representative of the British Council, but in particular, we do not recommend counting on receiving a positive response and benefits.

What are the admission requirements for foreign students at Oxford and Cambridge? I am also considering top higher education institutions in England.

In order to enroll in such prestigious universities, foreign students must undergo two-year university preparation programs, and it is necessary to pass it in the UK, at a private boarding school or international college. This can be an A-level course (the so-called "golden British educational standard") or a universal IB program (International Baccalaureate). Other types of preparatory courses (for example, a one-year Foundation course) are not accepted by top universities, although there are high-quality programs developed by them (these include Oxford Prep and Cambridge Pre-U).

I want to apply to the London School of Economics, but I definitely need to improve my English language skills and academic knowledge in my chosen subjects. Can you advise me on which subjects and areas of study are best to choose if I am interested in the economics department? Which private school would you recommend for preparation? I am also considering Imperial College London as my main place of study.

Please note that for pre-university preparation, you can choose not only a private boarding school, but also an international college. The latter option is even more popular among foreigners. There are many such institutions in the UK, we will select the best option for you based on your needs and preferences.

Regarding the subjects you need to choose at A-level, we recommend that you contact your tutor (mentor). They will provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information, clarifying the requirements for students at a particular university.

Will I need to take an A-level or Foundation course before applying to an English university if I graduate from high school in Portugal?

An additional course will not be required if your certificate is recognized as equivalent to an A-level and you can demonstrate a high level of language proficiency and excellent knowledge of English. If one of these conditions is not met, you can limit yourself to a one-year Foundation course and enter the first year of university. Conveniently, you can check the equivalence of your certificate before submitting your documents. To do this, you need to contact your chosen university (you can do this remotely) or your nearest British Council office.

I received my secondary education in Latvia, but did not immediately apply to university. Instead, I studied the language and created a portfolio so that I could apply to study Art and Design in the UK, and I passed the IELTS exam. I applied to the University of Northampton, but they refused to enroll me in the Foundation program, saying that I needed to study for three years on the BTEC program. In order not to waste time, I returned to Latvia and enrolled in a bachelor's degree program (4 years) in computer design (I was assured that this university's diploma is recognized abroad). After receiving my first degree, I plan to apply for a master's degree in the UK. Did I do it right?

Yes, you have made the right choice. If you do well in your bachelor's degree, get good grades and marks, and manage to build up an impressive portfolio over four years, British universities may well accept you onto a master's program.

I have been studying English for 11 years and regularly take Cambridge exams (I recently received my FCE certificate). Can I now apply to Cambridge?

Unfortunately, this level will not be sufficient. You will need an excellent level of both language and academic preparation, higher than FCE.

I am finishing my fourth year at the Institute of Economics and Trade and plan to continue my education abroad. I start to actively study English in order to pass the exam and obtain the necessary certificate. Which exam should I focus on, and which one is better to take? Which course should I choose (bachelor's, master's, or something else)? After graduating from my current university, I will have a specialist degree (if that matters).

You are fully eligible to apply for a place on a master's program at your chosen UK university. We recommend choosing the IELTS language exam (the academic version), as it is highly valued in the UK.

This year, my daughter graduated from high school and scored 6.0 on her IELTS exam. We decided to continue her education abroad, and she chose Plymouth College's International Foundation program. Personally, I am not entirely satisfied with Plymouth University as a place to pursue higher education in the future. Will she be able to enroll in another UK university with a higher ranking after completing the Foundation course? If so, what do we need to do? We are interested in economics, finance, and accounting.

In your case, it would be best to choose not the Foundation program, but two-year preparatory courses – A-level, Cambridge-Pre-U, or IB. They are considered more in-depth and offer a wider choice of universities for further study. They are accepted by all universities in the UK (unlike Foundation, which is considered insufficient by top educational institutions). You may also consider a learning center affiliated with your preferred university and complete the Foundation program there rather than at Plymouth College.

Does a foreign student who has obtained a higher education in the UK have the right to find permanent employment after graduation?

Yes, there are certain opportunities for this. If you have a bachelor's degree or higher, you can confidently apply for a job under the TIER2 category (this is a category for skilled workers who are usually sought after by licensed employers). If you are applying for TIER2 (a specific type of visa), you are subject to an annual quota, which is usually around 20,000 visas. These work visas are issued for high-paying, highly skilled positions, as well as for those on the Shortage Occupation List.

I am finishing 9th grade at a private school (specializing in foreign languages). I plan to complete 10th and 11th grades as an external student in one year at another educational institution and then go to an English college. I am interested specifically in the A-level and IB programs. Foundation will not be sufficient for my goals, as it is not recognized by the universities I have chosen. What exams will I have to take? Overall, is my plan to enter an English university correct? My grades at my current school are excellent, but I am afraid of doing something wrong and not getting in at the last moment.

We would like to reassure you that, overall, we have put together a perfectly sound admission plan, and with the support of your parents and our assistance, it is entirely possible. If you have chosen a two-year preparatory course (in addition to those you have specified, we can also recommend Cambridge Pre-U), you will need to take entrance exams in mathematics and English, as well as in the specialized subjects you plan to study in England.

I study at the University of Linguistics. Despite my current field of study, in the future I want to work as an art historian and pursue a career related to art. Can I apply for a master's program in art and culture in the UK after graduating from my home university? Or is it better to get a second degree in my country and only then apply? Which universities in the UK can you recommend that are highly valued in the art world?

You can start studying at a UK university in the near future if you put together a good portfolio and publications, and demonstrate a high level of academic and language proficiency. Our specialist will recommend suitable educational institutions as soon as they have a clearer and more detailed understanding of your goals and preferences.

We live permanently in Uzbekistan and have Uzbek citizenship. Can my daughter enroll in an English university? She is currently 17 years old, speaks English very well, and she is in her first year of high school, which is a three-year program. Will she need to take any exams? Should she enroll in A-level or Foundation courses? Perhaps it would be better to complete her secondary education in England (but as far as we know, children there receive their diplomas at the age of 16, so we are a little late)?

The best option would be to complete the first year of high school and then enroll in a pre-university preparation program. We recommend two-year programs (A-level or IB), as a one-year Foundation program is not accepted by some top universities, thus limiting your choice of higher education institutions.

I am graduating from school soon. Should I go straight to a British boarding school to take a two-year A-level course and enroll in a university without any problems? Or should I choose a one-year Foundation course and study at an international college, again in England?

In your situation, we would recommend that you complete the Foundation program, that should be sufficient.

All the universities in England that I have chosen state that they accept students from the age of 18. Can I apply if I will be 17 in September, but will turn 18 in a couple of weeks, or do I have to wait for the next intake?

Of course, your age will not be an obstacle! It is more important for the admissions committee that you submit the correct documents and application, and demonstrate a high level of academic and language proficiency.

I am interested in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I have read that it makes it easier and more reliable to get into British universities. But I am already 24 years old, will this be an obstacle to admission? I have an incomplete higher education.

Please note that the IB program is designed to prepare students who plan to enroll in the first year of a British university. Is this what you are planning to do? Then go ahead and submit your application.

We can also recommend the following path: complete a bachelor's degree (basic higher education) in your home country and then apply to the UK for a master's degree.

I really want to study at Cambridge on a full scholarship! What are my chances? What do I need to do to get a fully funded education?

It is better to ask a representative at your nearest British Council office about this. Scholarships and preferential education are complicated to get for foreign students in Cambridge.

Our son is finishing 10th grade. We plan to send him to England to begin preparing for admission to a British university. His English is very good, and he studied French intensively. There are problems with mathematics, he has low grades. Will the admissions committee of the British school consider grades from the previous school, or will priority be given to language proficiency?

It is best to choose a two-year pre-university program, such as IB and A-level, which are the most popular options among high school students. The first wave of applications and admissions takes place in November-February, and we strongly recommend that you submit your documents within this period to guarantee your place on the course.

Of course, schools in the UK pay attention to a student's grades, as well as their level of English. You will also need to demonstrate good academic performance and knowledge in the subjects you wish to study in the future in the pre-university program. However, the most important factor will be how well the student performs in the entrance exams.

I have completed my first year of medical college. I would like to continue my studies at an English university, also in the medical faculty. I graduated from the school where classes were taught in English, with an in-depth study of foreign languages. Is it possible to transfer?

It is not so much the difficulty (almost impossibility) of transferring, but rather the fact that Western and even British universities are extremely reluctant to accept students applying for medical programs if you have already begun studying in this field in your own country. The British believe that you have already absorbed a different culture and way of doing things, different methods of treatment and approaches to patients. A positive outcome is possible, but be prepared for a long and difficult process, in which we will help you from start to end.

I am in 10th grade and I am 16 years old. I want to get a higher education in International Relations or Hospitality and Tourism. I know that it is best to study these subjects abroad. I consider programs in English (my English is very good). How can I enroll in Swiss universities (I am particularly interested in Glion) after graduating from 11th grade? How much does it cost to enroll and study? Are there any ways to save money or study for free?

Neither England and Switzerland offer free education to foreigners, but other European countries do, including English-language programs. At your request, we can find educational institutions for you.

If you want to study Hospitality and Tourism, then Switzerland is the right choice for you, today it is recognized as the world leader in training specialists in this field. The courses are taught in English, so you will need to present TOEFL or IELTS certificates to apply. However, the International Relations program in Switzerland is mainly taught in French or German, so it is better to choose the UK for this field of study. We recommend Cesar Ritz and Hotel Institute Montreux.

For admission to both countries after graduation, you will need to complete a two-year preparatory program (A-level or IB, these options are available at many British private schools and international colleges) or study for two years at the university in your home country in the same specialty that you will later study abroad. You can also try a Foundation course, which takes only a year, but this program is not always sufficient for admission (many top universities do not recognize it).

You can find the cost of tuition, as well as all additional expenses and fees, in the profile of each educational institution on our website.

Is it possible to study at the London School of Economics if my main degree is in physics and technology? Are there any restrictions on the choice of department? I am also a little concerned that my degree is average in terms of grades, with some Cs. How important is this? What are the main requirements for applicants? I would be grateful if you could tell me about the most convenient and reliable ways to apply for a master's degree. I have heard that LSE has its own summer school.

If you are determined to apply to this particular university, we recommend that you carefully select all the necessary documents and contact the admissions committee, explaining your situation in detail. Most likely, you will be offered to take courses at the LSE Summer School and pass the GRE or GMAT qualifying exams. You must demonstrate a high level of knowledge in the core disciplines of the field you are applying for in the master's program — and then there should be no obstacles to your studies.

I am studying in Kyrgyzstan and finishing my third year of journalism studies. Can I transfer to a university in the UK, and if so, what will I need to do?

There is no direct transfer between universities in Kyrgyzstan and the UK. The best option would be to complete your studies in your home country and then apply to a UK university for a master's program.

I am studying journalism at university. I am 20 years old and my English is Upper-Intermediate. Can I apply to a British university at this age, or do they only accept applicants who are 18? Is it possible to get a scholarship?

As for scholarships, this issue should be clarified at your nearest British Council office, but we would not recommend counting on this option. After completing your university course, you are fully eligible to apply for a place on a British master's program and choose a university for yourself, your age will not be an obstacle. The only important factors are your level of academic preparation and language proficiency.

I want to get a master's degree in the UK, specializing in Hospitality and Tourism. Which university would you recommend? Is it true that I must take the IELTS exam?

We recommend that you consider universities such as Oxford Brookes, Brighton, and Glasgow. Yes, you will need an IELTS certificate to apply, and your score must be at least 7.0. Please note that master's programs usually start at the end of September or in October.

I am finishing my fifth year studying PR and would like to get a second degree at a university in the UK. Which London university would you recommend for continuing my studies in the same field? Is it possible for me to change my major (I really want to work in the film industry)?

If you have a sufficiently high level of academic and language training, you can confidently apply for a place on a master's program in the UK. PR is offered as a study program at many universities: we recommend Swansea, Southampton Solent, Central Lancashire, London Metropolitan, and Queen Margaret. As for the film industry, this term encompasses a wide range of professions. You can discuss your specific requirements and goals with our specialist to find the most suitable educational institution for you.

Which foreign (preferably British) university with a strong focus on linguistics would you recommend?

You have made a general request, linguistics is divided into many areas and specializations. As for general recommendations, we can name universities such as Manchester, St.Andrew's, Lancaster, York, Edinburgh, UCL, and Essex.

My son is graduating from 11th grade this year and will receive his secondary education certificate. When is the best time to start gathering documents for admission to a pre-university program? Are there any benefits for students from low-income countries (we live in Kyrgyzstan)? Are there any discounts on tuition fees, and how can we get them?

To be enrolled in a pre-university program, you need to submit your application in October. Contact our consultant, and we will help you quickly gather and translate the necessary documents.

There are several ways to obtain a discount on tuition. The first is to do very well in entrance exams and prove yourself to be a truly talented and gifted student (this can result in a discount of 10-30% off the total cost). The second is to demonstrate your talents and merits to a British Council employee (this way you can apply for a substantial scholarship). But let's be clear that scholarships and discounts for foreign students are very rare, so you shouldn't count on a reduction in tuition fees.

What exams do you need to take to get into international colleges in the UK? In the future, I want to get a higher education at one of the British universities.

The admission process, including document collection and entrance exams, begins approximately one year before the expected start of studies. Most likely, you will be offered exams in mathematics and English, a logic test, as well as entrance exams in the subjects you have chosen for in-depth study. The specific list of future exams is determined on an individual basis depending on the chosen university.

I am finishing 8th grade and live and study in Kazakhstan. Can I enroll in a Tutorial College or Six-form College after 9th grade and then apply for a place at Oxford or Cambridge? What are my chances?

Admission success depends primarily on your abilities and your level of language and academic preparation. After 9th grade, you will need to enroll in an international college or private school to complete A-level or IB programs, which are mandatory two-year pre-university preparation programs for foreign students. If you are aiming specifically for Oxford and Cambridge, you will have to put in a lot of effort, study very hard, and choose a high-quality, prestigious, and respected preparatory school very carefully. Your citizenship will not prevent you from getting an education in the UK, it all depends on you.

I am in my third year of university. I want to continue my studies in the UK, I really like their approach and the quality of education, and I am attracted by the valuable degree that is highly regarded around the world. I consider the University of Warwick. Can I study at this university, and what do I need to do to get in?

In your situation, we would advise you to finish your university studies, obtain a bachelor's/specialist degree, and apply to your chosen UK university for a master's program. Keep in mind that you will need to take the IELTS exam and have a certificate with a score of at least 7.0 — this is the passing score for prestigious British universities.

I am currently in my second year of a bachelor's program at HSE, and I want to get a master's degree in England in the future. I plan to go into business and want to supplement my knowledge with a valuable British degree. I consider studying at LSE. How can I best plan my application so that I don't miss my chance? I heard that during the admission period, you can choose 3-5 universities to submit your documents to. Perhaps you could recommend some suitable options for me?

We are happy to inform you that there is no limit to the number of universities you can apply to; you can choose 20 or even 50. However, we recommend that you focus on 3-5 priority options: this will allow you to channel your efforts in the right direction and play it safe in case one of the universities rejects you. The main requirements include a high IELTS score (at least 7.0), a passed GMAT or GRE qualification exam, and we also strongly recommend attending the LSE Summer School – indeed, the London School of Economics is one of the best universities in the UK.

I am studying veterinary medicine at the Medical Academy. Which universities in the UK can accept me for a similar degree? How much does it cost to study for an academic year? What documents do I need to prepare?

We advise you to complete your bachelor's degree at your home university and apply for a master's program in the UK, several universities offer majors that may be suitable for you. Our consultant will listen to your preferences, goals, and wishes in more detail, determine a list of educational institutions, and then be able to give you a more accurate estimate of the cost and admission requirements (they may vary depending on the university). You can see the approximate cost in the description of each university — we have indicated the price of the study programs and the amount of additional fees and charges.

Do you work with Ukrainian citizens? Do you have a representative office in our country? I want to apply for a master's program in England. I already have a bachelor's degree (International Economics and Business) and have passed the academic version of IELTS with a score of 5.5. Ideally, I would like to complete a Pre-Masters course first (as I have no previous experience of studying abroad) and then apply for a master's degree. My preferred universities are Bristol, City, Sussex, Surrey, and East Anglia, and my preferred specializations are Master of International Business and Master of International Law (Trade Law).

Unfortunately, your IELTS level will not be sufficient for admission to a British university — admissions committees expect to see scores of 6.5 or higher, ideally 7.0. Many universities offer preparatory programs for master's programs. Our consultant will select the most suitable option for you (including checking the availability of places on courses at your chosen universities).

We do not have a representative office in Ukraine (only in London), but we have worked with families and students from other countries on numerous occasions, so we will have no problem working with you remotely.

Our daughter is about to finish 11th grade, and we have decided that she will continue her education abroad. We like the option of studying at an English college and consider the A-level program. Please help us choose colleges so that our daughter can easily enter Oxford or Cambridge in the future. We are planning to take a tour of selected campuses in the summer and would also appreciate your help in organizing this.

In order to enroll in an A-level course, you will need high-quality, intensive academic and language training – be prepared to study actively and productively on your own and with tutors. Entrance exams are usually given in English, mathematics, and the core subjects you plan to study in your pre-university course. Our specialist will help you choose a suitable international college (you can also consider a private boarding school) so that the quality of education meets the high and strict requirements of Oxford and Cambridge. It's great that you are considering an introductory trip, this will give you a chance to personally verify that you have made the right choice, see the campus, and talk to the principal and teachers. Of course, we will help you organize this trip, just let our consultant know your preferred dates.

At which British universities can I obtain a higher education degree in Advertising?

Most often, this field is taught in conjunction with other subjects, such as design and art. It can also be studied separately at the universities of Lincoln, Gloucestershire, and Northampton.

Please recommend universities where I can study history or archaeology, or at least related disciplines. I consider institutions in London.

This specialty is not uncommon for London universities: take a look at UCL, Royal Holloway, King's, SOAS.

I have a bachelor's degree (in Economics) and plan to continue my studies in the UK. Can I enroll in a master's program, or will I have to repeat the bachelor's program?

Of course, British universities accept students for master's programs based on bachelor's degrees obtained in your country. You do not need any work experience — all you need is a high level of academic and language proficiency (usually an IELTS certificate with a score of 7.0 or higher is required).

Please tell me how I can view the subjects taught at UK universities.

Your question is very vague: universities in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales offer a wide variety of educational programs and specializations. If you are looking for a specific university, use the search form on our website, and you will see a list of disciplines and programs (bachelor's, master's, and others) in the description of each university. If you are looking for a specific specialization, you can submit a request to our consultant, and we will select the best options for you.

Is it possible to study at a music faculty in the UK and obtain a bachelor's degree in just three years?

Yes, this opportunity exists, and what's more, quite a few universities offer it. Take a look at Durham, York, and Nottingham, they meet the criteria you mentioned.

I graduated from university this year, but I already have more than three years of work experience (I worked while studying). I consider studying for a master's degree at the LSE. What do I need to do and when? Documents, application, admission fees, and exams? I plan to start IELTS language courses in the near future.

Taking IELTS preparation courses is a very good idea, as you will need to score 7.0 on the exam (the academic version of the test, please note). You will also need to pass the GMAT or GRE qualifying exams to apply. Documents are usually sent out before the Christmas holidays. Contact our consultant, we will help you collect and translate your documents, fill out the application correctly, and send the package of collected files to the admissions committee.

Which UK university would you recommend for studying pharmacology?

This specialization is widely available — check out the University of Edinburgh, Cambridge, St. Andrews, Glasgow, and UCL. The exact choice will depend on your preferences and opportunities, as well as your language and academic preparation.

I am currently studying for a master's degree at a university in my country (Architecture). Can I enroll in a good university in the UK for a bachelor's degree program, but in a different field (Anthropology)? If so, what do I need to do? Can I skip the 1-2 year preparatory program? I consider universities such as Durham and UCL.

Theoretically, it is possible to enroll in a bachelor's program without a preparatory program (in your case). You will need to submit your documents on time, demonstrate your high level of academic and language proficiency to the admissions committee, pass the IELTS test (or present an existing certificate), and take exams in relevant subjects. The final decision is always made by the admissions committee.

I live in Belarus and would like to study in England with your help. I am particularly interested in the possibility of becoming an actor (specifically, higher education), as well as specialties related to tourism, hospitality, and hospitality technologies. How should I proceed, and are there any opportunities for study?

Of course, there is a chance! We are ready to help you with admission and enrollment in your chosen educational institution. We have been working with students from various CIS countries for a long time, and remote work is no longer a challenge.

In order to more accurately determine the list of priority educational institutions for you, we need to know more about your goals and career priorities, as well as your level of preparation, both academic and linguistic. The only thing to note is that if you do choose to study Tourism and Hospitality, it is worth considering universities in Switzerland: the country has long been a recognized world leader in education in these fields, and Swiss degrees are highly valued.

I study in Kazakhstan (4th year, majoring in International Law), and this year I will receive my bachelor's degree. I think of getting a master's degree in England in the same field. Which universities would you recommend in this case? What will I need to apply? I would really like to study at Cambridge, but I doubt that this is realistic for me.

Indeed, admission to Cambridge will require tremendous perseverance and effort. If you do decide to pursue this option, our consultant will draw up a comprehensive and detailed preparation plan for you, including deadlines for submitting documents and entrance exams. We recommend that you take a look at such highly ranked universities as

I study in Kazakhstan at the Lyceum with an in-depth study of mathematics and physics. I have not yet chosen a profession, but I want to continue studying these disciplines at a British University after graduation. My knowledge of English is intermediate. How can I enroll in an English university? What exams will I need to take, and how can I prepare for them? Please advise me on the cost and accommodation options.

We advise you to follow this plan for admission to universities in the UK:

  • Improve your academic and language skills, earn the best possible grades in your secondary school certificate
  • Enroll in intensive English courses and study with a tutor to significantly improve your English language skills
  • Collect and send a package of documents to your chosen international colleges (we can help you with this) — documents are usually sent between November and February. At an international college, you can complete a two-year pre-university program (this could be IB or A-level).

You can find the cost of tuition at the university, as well as the cost of accommodation and meals, in the description of each educational institution presented on our portal.

I really want to get a higher education in England, ideally at Cambridge University. I am currently completing my first year at the School of Economics. Is it true that after completing my second year, I can take A-level exams and apply to an English university? How and where are these exams taken? Does Cambridge have its own entrance exams? Do I need to complete two years of preparatory study before applying to university?

If you have already completed two years of study at a foreign university by the time you apply to a UK university, you may be exempt from the preparatory program and A-level exams. To apply, you will need to take the academic version of the IELTS test (to confirm your level of English proficiency) and gather the necessary documents (our consultant will help you with this). We usually recommend sending documents to 3-5 universities at once to guarantee admission to one of them. If your language and academic preparation is recognized as sufficiently high, you will be enrolled in the first year of your chosen major.

Can I enroll in a British master's program if I have low grades in my bachelor's program? I study Journalism and want to take a course in PR. Maybe I need to take exams in addition to the mandatory IELTS?

There is definitely a chance, but if possible, you should improve your grades and scores on your diploma to convince the admissions committee of your high level of academic and language proficiency. For example, you should try to score at least 6.5 on the academic IELTS, ideally 7.0 or higher.

Our daughter is now 14, and we plan her to enroll in the medical faculty at one of the universities in the UK. We know that this is not so easy, but it is possible. What is the best path to take? We are ready to send her to England as early as next year (she will be 15).

It is worth noting that medical programs are among the most popular among British students and are difficult for foreign applicants to get into. To maximize your chances of admission, it is recommended that you complete your high school program (A-level or IB) directly in the UK. If your child is specifically interested in medicine, it will be easier to choose an A-level program so that they can focus only on the subjects required for admission to medical school (mathematics, chemistry, biology).

I am interested in a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. I am currently in 10th grade at a school. My English level is B1, now closer to B2. How can I prepare for admission?

There are two ways for international students to apply to a British university. The first and most preferred method, which significantly simplifies the application process, is to complete the last two years of school or college directly in the UK. School counselors for higher education work with graduates in the senior high school program to help them choose universities and submit their applications. The second way is to enroll through the Foundation preparatory program.

My daughter is graduating from 11th grade this year. Initially, we planned to apply to a university in Spain that teaches in English. However, after reading reviews, we decided that English-language programs in Spain are not as strong as we would like, so we decided to prioritize England. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about the admission process after 11th grade. We are interested in Economics.

Admission to a British university after 11th grade is possible through the Foundation preparatory program. The program teaches academic English and provides an introduction to the subjects that students will study in their first year of university. The program can be completed directly at the university where you plan to enroll, or at an international college. It is recommended that you begin the application process 6-7 months before the start of the program.

My son is currently in his final year of the A-level program. The school counselor works closely with my child to submit his application through the UCAS portal. However, I still don't understand, and no one has really explained to us, whether it is possible to apply directly to universities at the same time. If the university of interest accepts applications both through UCAS and directly, which is the best way to apply?

If you have already submitted your documents to a university through the UCAS portal, you can no longer submit your documents directly to the university. If you reapply to the same university, the application submitted to UCAS will be considered. However, you can still submit your documents directly to other universities in the UK and around the world. There is no limit to the number of universities you can apply to, but it is generally recommended that you choose no more than 6-7 universities.
