The dystopia in the American educational sphere continues: US President Donald Trump, who previously began an active fight against universities that he dislikes, now offers them cooperation and sponsorship. Of course, there is a nuance: only those universities that agree to promote exclusively conservative values among their students will receive funding.
The list of conditions included, among other things, a ban on the selection of candidates for teachers on the basis of their race, maintaining a stable salary at the same level for five years, reducing the number of foreign students to 15% of the total number of students at the bachelor's level. Such an offer was accepted by nine top universities in the United States of America:
- Vanderbilt University,
- Dartmouth College,
- University of Pennsylvania,
- University of Southern California,
- MIT,
- University of Texas at Austin,
- University of Arizona,
- Brown University,
- University of Virginia.
In the same memorandum that these universities received recently, there is a spoiler for all other American institutions: they can promote any other values, but only after a complete refusal of funding from federal structures.
Against the backdrop of new initiatives from the administration of the American president, the local educational community continues to be divided into two camps: some are ready to put up with it and find compromise solutions in the new realities, while others are categorically against any concessions and continue to defend their rights and traditions.
