The latest version of the ranking from The Center for World University Rankings — Global 2000 — surprised the world educational community: this year US universities were behind Chinese ones! The updated top includes 346 universities in China, although in 2024 there were only 324, but the number of US universities fell to 319 from last year's 329.
For the first time, the Chinese education sector has overtaken the American one in terms of quantity. But China's successes did not stop there: 98% of universities raised their levels within the ranking! Against this background, the situation of 83% of universities in the United States of America looks even sadder, because they have become lower by several places than a year earlier. However, the top 3 in the ranking table remains the same, it includes only American universities: Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University.
