The President of the United States has legislatively approved English as the official language of the country. Such a presidential decision could jeopardize multilingualism in the country as a whole, limit or deprive immigrants of access to public services.
Teachers and human rights organizations of the country oppose the new law, as they do not believe that this measure will help unite US citizens and develop the unity of culture. But they assume that after a while, migrants will refuse to study in the United States, especially in language courses. Whether the structures will be able to challenge the new presidential directive is still unknown.
Today, there are approximately 42 million people in the United States who speak Spanish rather than English , and another 3 million speak Chinese.
