What firstly should be considered when choosing a university?

It depends on the student - everyone determines the most important criteria for himself. I would advise you to take several rankings and compare them with each other, plus take into account the cost of the course, the location of the university and its scale, the percentage of graduates' employment. See where graduates continue their studies or where they go to work.

Application Essentials in Austria for International Students

Seeking admission into an Austrian higher education institution requires international students to present specific documents:

  • Proof of complete secondary (or specialized) education for those straight out of school, or relevant transcripts from a current university.

  • Secondary school graduates, targeting specific specializations in universities in Austria, might need specialized certification.

  • A universally crucial requirement is proof of German proficiency, with the level varying across universities (B2 in some and at least C1 in others). Yet, for those not adept in German, options are available. Students can opt for English-taught programs or undertake German language courses before their university stint in Austria.

  • Lastly, entrance examinations are par for the course. To aid prospective students, preparatory courses are usually on offer at most Austrian higher education institutions.

Good afternoon. I'm 19 years old, I live in Russia. I would like to know more about the possibility of studying in Austria as a linguist-translator. Please advise higher education institutions where this can be done. Will I have to take entrance examinations in this specialty? Is there a learning option in English (since I have a New Zealand certificate of English language teaching, with a confirmed B2 level)? Regards, Anastasia

Regarding the directions of linguistics - it is usually taught in German. If these directions could interest you - please email us at general mail mail@smapse.com, and our specialist will definitely contact you.
