The University of Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is a state university of technical profile. The institution was founded in 2002 as the University College of Engineering and Technology. In 2006, UMP received its current name and university status.

At the moment, education at the university takes place on the basis of specialized faculties:

• Technology of mechanical engineering, automotive industry
• Engineering technologies
• Industrial Sciences, Technologies
• Electrical, electronic technologies
• Chemical, technological processes
• Technologies of production, mechatronic engineering
• Civil Engineering Technologies

The teaching staff in the institution is represented by more than 900 highly qualified teachers. About 11,000-12,500  students study at the two UMP campuses.

Separate dormitories for boys and girls have been built on the residential territory:

• Four-storey buildings of 12 rooms per floor, common showers and toilets, classrooms for self-study. Each room accommodates four students
• New student complex – houses with terraces for men
• Apartment-type dormitories with separate accommodation of girls and men of the faculties of mechanics, electrical engineering, production.

All living rooms are furnished for two, three or four people. Some buildings have cafeterias.

The main focus of sports in UMP is kayaking. For these classes, a large lake is equipped on the territory of the university, all the necessary equipment is provided. The multifunctional complex hosts both group and individual classes in many areas: football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, yoga. National teams represent the university at inter-university competitions held at the UMP open stadium.

Creative teams organize musical concerts, dance and theater performances.

The university is located on two campuses:

• The main campus in Pecan, built in 2009. Most of the engineering faculties, research centers, and a foreign language club have been built on its territory. The main ground was involved in the filming of the television comedy in 2017.

• The suburban campus in Gambang is located next door to a large number of corporations of the chemical, oil, automotive industries, which allows students to practice.
