We live in an amazing time when the tastes and aromas of the world have become available to almost everyone, regardless of distance. Have you ever wondered what cuisine has captured the hearts and stomachs of people on all continents?
Italian Magic
In the top cuisines of the world, there is an unsurpassed winner - Italian cuisine. Could another leader have been expected? It is loved by 84% of respondents, and how could it be otherwise: Pasta, pizza, tiramisu - Italians literally live surrounded by culinary art.
Interesting fact: Italians themselves turned out to be the main fans of their cuisine - 99% of the Italians surveyed are crazy about the national cuisine!
The Chinese are a little more skeptical about it, among whom only 59% preferred the Italian classics. Maybe it's all about the incredible diversity of its own gastronomic heritage, but more on that later.
Chinese exotics
Chinese cuisine confidently occupies second place - 78% of the world's lovers of delicious food love it. The variety of dishes and cooking techniques make it desirable in many parts of the world, however, judging by surveys, not everywhere – for example, in Saudi Arabia, only 54% of people like Chinese food. Even fewer Chinese dishes were tasted and appreciated in Indonesia - only 57% of respondents. Perhaps this is caused by the local culinary traditions, which themselves are very rich and unique.
Japanese Precision
China is followed by Japanese cuisine, which was noted by 71% of respondents. Japan is the freshest ingredients that will leave few people indifferent. Although, it turns out, they do! The Saudis and Chinese did not seem to appreciate sushi and other Japanese delights, with only 43% and 54% respectively indicating their perception of Japanese cuisine as positive.
Other favorite cuisines
The top also includes Thai, French, Spanish, American and Mexican cuisines. Each of them has its own zest and fan club. American simplicity, Mexican sharpness, Spanish lightness - there is a lot to choose from! In addition, the list includes Indian and Turkish cuisines, famous for their magnificent variety of spices and dishes.
The pitfall of gastronomy
But among the cuisines of the world, there are outsiders who do not deserve the wide love of gourmets. Peruvian and Finnish cuisine attracted only 32% of the votes, while Saudi cuisine attracted 36%. Curiously, sometimes less popular cuisines have nothing to do with their quality or taste, but rather a combination of various factors, such as the availability of ingredients or cultural proximity.
The secret of the Japanese and the tenderness of the Filipinos
The Japanese surprised the researchers with their strict culinary preferences - they seem to love their own traditions more, because only 39% are open to experimenting with the cuisines of other countries. At the same time, Filipinos turned out to be very friendly: 67% of them do not mind trying something new and do not call it strange.
Britain outside Europe
Another curious observation: British cuisine, often ridiculed and underrated in Europe, has proven to be quite popular in Singapore and Australia! In these countries, 76% and 71%, respectively, like it. Apparently, British traditions have not lost their charm away from home!
