How to become an honors pupil and love the school

How to become an honors pupil and love the school

Many have probably heard the words that genius is 1% of innate abilities and 99% of hard work on oneself. The same can be said about school success. As a rule, children who easily remember and recreate educational material, and purposeful persons, able to work hard to find and analyze new knowledge, become excellent students. What brings an ordinary schoolboy to the podium of educational honor? How to reach academic heights and what does it mean to work on yourself?

Teachers-practitioners shared their long-term observations, which allowed to create a unique set of rules. Some of them may help your children become brilliant pupils, while remaining quite happy boys and girls.

Rule number 1. We form the goal.

Drawing up a training plan will not allow the child to be lazy or to postpone unpleasant tasks "for later". The plan should be detailed and take into account the child's real abilities. As an example, you can bring such tasks: prepare for the school olympiad, enroll in an elective, prepare three creative projects for the year.

Rule number 2. Time is more valuable than money.

Often pupils do not know how to rationally use every minute of free time. Many hours a year are spent looking for the right object when collecting a school bag or selecting items of clothing. And on the way toschool children are bored, pointlessly looking at the landscapes outside the window. Correct organization of the school corner of the student and listening to useful audio on the road can save time and allocate more minutes for rest or entertainment.

Rule number 3. We study only the necessary subjects.

Abroad, students do not spend their energy studying the school programs they do not need (!). Profile training allows you to focus only on the necessary for admission to universitysubjects or on creative courses. Then there is a couple of hours a week for visiting out-of-school clubs by interests.

Rule number 4. Foreign language is the way to the world.

At least one foreign language is included in the compulsory program of all foreign schools. Ideally, children study two foreign students, passing summer practice abroad. It can often be seen that during a changeAmerican or English students speak to a foreign guest in his or her language. Such exchange programs allow you to learn the correct pronunciation from a native speaker of a foreign language. If the budget allows, be sure to write the child tosummer courses in another country. The language environment for two weeks will do more than studying foreign in an ordinary school during the year.

Rule number 5. I think, therefore, I exist.

The ability to think critically is not given from birth. It is necessary to work on its development. A pupil should not only be able to find the necessary information, but also to question unreliable facts or statements. Effectively and quickly the ability to think analytically develop discussion clubs.

Rule number 6. Social activity.

Assistance in the organization of school activities develops the social qualities of the child and helps him to better understand people. Charitable projects or actions develop altruism, socially adapt the teenager. Do not give up sponsorship of junior schoolchildren - this is a kind of school of responsible behavior.

Rule number 7. Learning from professionals.

It is impossible to become interested in a child without meeting with real fans of this field of science. Live communication with outstanding scientists can attract a student with a certain theme for life. Master classes or just ordinary conversations will help you gain invaluable experience and see the world from an unusual angle.

Rule number 8. We are equal to the strongest.

In every field of knowledge there are geniuses who have achieved worldwide fame and recognition. The more a child learns about their life or personal preferences, the better they understand that these are not superheroes, but ordinary, passionate people of science who have set themselves a definite goal.

Rule number 9. The technique is in the service of the student.

Modern technology can greatly simplify the process of obtaining knowledge. To find the book, you no longer need to run to the library - just open the site and download the necessary. A foreign language can be taught through audio recordings or video lessons. Most schools switch to electronic accounting systems, when even when you miss classes, you can get the necessary tasks and contact the teacher via Skype. The lessons use projectors, scientific presentations and e-books.

Rule number 10. Study. Sleep. Recreation.

The pace of modern life is extremely high. In the school, children demand more and more skills, knowledge, skills. Often, work on homework ends in the late evening. A completely opposite approach in foreign schools: for homework is allocated about an hour, and the rest of the time the children are engaged in sports and rest. A balanced approach to the three main components of student life increases the effectiveness of teaching.

Rule number 11. We are recording everything.

Each day gives students a new experience, new knowledge. Remember all experiences will not even geniuses, so a good habit will be keeping a diary or blog. So the student develops a good literary style and the ability to notice what others have missed.

Rule number 12. If you do something, do it well.

The specialization of schoolchildren abroad begins with the senior classes, and before that they "search for themselves," exploring different areas and acquiring a multifaceted experience. You can not understand what you like without having studied the subject properly. Even very mediocre schools offer at least 10 clubs for hobbies, where you can do music, sports, publish school media or play in the theater. Having tried himself in all possible roles and specialties, the child will really choose a business that will love all his life.

Rule number 13. Knowing the world, we know ourselves.

Training courses or rest in another country on vacation will change the schoolchild's outlook. Do not give up the opportunity to communicate with people with other traditions and culture. This is useful not only to improve the foreign, but also to develop your own life ideals. Therefore, the presence of an international student in the experience of an applicant is appreciated by all universities.

Rule number 14. The teacher is not a supervisor, but a friend.

A teacher who knows everything about the tastes and interests of his students will always help in choosing an exciting program, orient in the courses or simply give useful advice for admission to the university. Do not give up personal conversation "heart to heart" with the teacher, afraid of appearing a pet. In any case, each graduate will need recommendations, so beforehand, make sure that the teacher has something to say about you.

Rule number 15. Personal profile.

For complex preparation to the university, some children start a "private affair", where small and big achievements are recorded, they celebrate victories in sports competitions, participate in charity projects, read books, evaluations on extracurricular tests, summer courses results, presentations of creative ideas. All this baggage of achievements is being prepared for several years to reflect the strengths of the student's personality, to show it to the admissions committee of the university from the best side.

Rule number 16. Practice. And once again practice.

All school courses provide the opportunity for practical (laboratory) classes. But this is not enough for an excellent student. He aspires even on vacation to pass an internship in addition, to study the area of interest from the position of assistant, volunteer, secretary.

Those who chose the sphere of management or business for their future profession, implement their own business projects or seek like-minded people for a new idea. Musically gifted children form groups or perform solo. Enthusiastic children create prototypes and offer scientific centers to consider their usefulness. All projects, even unsuccessful ones, can be added to your personal profile, as this is a testament to your dedication and creativity.

Rule number 17. Preparing for high school from high school.

The choice of the university is made by foreign students in 8-9 grades. More often than not, this is not the most affordable higher education institution or location. Preference is given to the establishment, which prepares high-class specialists in the required industry. To enter such institutions is not so simple, therefore preparation is conducted for several years.

Children study the requirements of the university, the necessary items for delivery, attend excursions at the educational institution in order to feel the "student spirit" and motivate themselves to active work. A big plus for admission is the passagepreparatory courses in higher education.

Rule number 18. Learning for the sake of knowledge, not evaluation.

Training for the sake of evaluations testifies to the lack of any motivation. This means that the student does not need knowledge, he does not plan to use them. Such children do not represent their future lives, they do not plan the future. Estimations are just figures on a sheet of paper and are of no interest to anyone. Understanding this fact should change the child's attitude to schoolwork and study.

Rule number 19. Experience is the son of difficult mistakes.

Every mistake or failure brings us closer to success. This is how successful and famous people think. Do not be afraid to do what you have not tried before. So it is impossible to learn. Only by risking and trying, you can achieve what you want, find an unusual way out of what seems to be a hopeless situation.

Rule number 20. We believe in ourselves.

You can not succeed if you are initially set for defeat. Only absolute faith in one's own strength and support of relatives will help to achieve the goal. Reminders of victories (medals, diplomas) should be left in the mind, hung on the wall of his room. The more small victories, the stronger the desire to win in any "training battle". A few small defeats guarantee a great victory.

It is possible that the implementation of these simple rules will not help all students become excellent students, but it will definitely make the school life much more interesting and diverse.
