High schools in England

High schools in England

The topic of education abroad is very relevant, and secondary schools in England can be an excellent option in choosing a country and an educational institution. The high schools in Britain have long confirmed their status and reputation as one of the best in the world.

Structure and features of education in secondary schools in England

The educational system in the UK is represented by two types of schools: public and private. The most popular secondary schools in England are private boarding schools (also known as boarding schools), which in turn are mixed, for boys or only for girls. Same thing with high schools in America and Canada high schools.

The structure of the secondary school of Britain consists of two obligatory steps:

  • The initial (7-11). Here, English, mathematics, history, geography, technology of industry, as well as music and art are the obligatory subjects for study.
  • The average (11-16). Children study general academic subjects and, at the end, take the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) or GNVQ (General National Vocational Qualification) certificate, a national qualification certificate.

After graduating from high school, graduates can go to work or continue their studies in Sixth Form school. Here, at the age of 16-18, they can take a two-year course in preparation for entering the university - A-Level (the students themselves choose subjects).

Advantages of British secondary schools for foreign students

  • One of the most important advantages of studying in secondary schools in England is the language of instruction - all subjects are taught entirely in English.
  • Diplomas of English educational institutions are highly valued and give the opportunity to enter the best educational institutions in Europe and the world.
  • English academic traditions are aimed not only at providing high quality educational services, but also for educating highly developed, responsible, self-confident personalities.
  • A high standard of living, a friendly attitude towards foreigners attracts millions of young and interesting people from all over the world. New acquaintances will broaden their horizons, make the academic years interesting and rich, which will remain in your memory for a long time.
