San Diego, a large city in California, boasts a high quality of life, a strong educational framework, and a vibrant social scene. Its thriving scientific community and high-tech industries have positioned it among the leading developed cities along the U.S. West Coast.

Known for its distinct character, San Diego hosts the renowned Comic-Con festival and was ranked 5th by Money Magazine in its list of "Best Cities to Live In." The city's well-established beach facilities and numerous amusement parks make it a favorite destination for tourists.

As California's second-largest city, San Diego offers significant higher education opportunities for international students. The appeal of its research institutions and social programs often surpasses the region's climate, culture, and attractions.
The University of California San Diego (UCSD) stands as the largest educational institution in the area. It is the southernmost campus within the University of California system and serves as the city's second-largest employer. Notably, UCSD is designated as an "R1: Doctoral studies are a very high research activity" university, ranking 7th nationwide for research funding. The city is also home to a UCSD medical school and three ABA-accredited law schools.

What advice do you have for applicants who plan to enter US universities? Let's say they have 3-4 years to prepare.

Learn, learn and learn again! Almost the most important is good grades (usually from the last 3 years in secondary school). Of course, high school must be completed. Even at school, I advise you to determine which subjects and directions interest you more than others, in which you are especially good and talented. This will answer the question of which career is right for you.

Do not forget about extracurricular activities, just do not overwork yourself, do not load too much on your shoulders, otherwise you will get tired beyond measure.

Of course, work on your English: it should be as fluent as possible.

Remember that the education system in the United States is very flexible: in many colleges and institutes, you can choose a specialization not immediately, but by the end of the second year.
