Northern Arizona University (NAU) began its academic career in 1899 in Flagstaff. Today, it is considered one of the largest universities in Northern Arizona: the total number of students (bachelor and graduate students) reaches almost thirty thousand, and the academic teaching staff of NAU is almost a thousand specialists.
