Canadian MacLachlan College is beginning a new chapter in its development: the independent school, located in the city of Oakville, has become part of the international education group Dukes Education, which brings together schools and educational projects from around the world. This is not simply a change of ownership, but an opportunity to expand international connections and open up new educational prospects for students.
Founded in 1978, MacLachlan College has been educating students from kindergarten through Grade 12 for nearly half a century, with around 400 local and international students currently enrolled across two campuses in Oakville. Over the years, the school has earned a reputation as an educational centre that places great emphasis not only on academic achievement but also on the personal development of each student. Key features include:
- Small class sizes and an individualized approach to studying,
- An international educational environment,
- The Primary Years Programme,
- Candidate status for the implementation of the Middle Years Programme,
- The opportunity to study Advanced Placement subjects in senior grades.
This approach helps students not only enter universities and colleges, but also feel confident in the global world at large. Following the joining of Dukes Education, MacLachlan College students and staff will gain access to a broader international educational network: joint projects with other schools in the group, international exchanges, collaboration with educators from different countries, and the expansion of academic and extracurricular programmes.
One of MacLachlan College's key strengths remains its holistic approach to child development. In addition to academic preparation, the school actively develops its sports program: students can participate in sport at an amateur level or pursue a serious career, combining training with a quality education.
Notably, MacLachlan College became the first Dukes Education group school in Canada. Today, Dukes Education brings together 64 educational brands across 12 countries and supports the education of 24,000+ students, with well-known institutions such as Cardiff Sixth Form College, Earlscliffe, Rochester Independent College, and Verbier International School among its members.
