In 2033, Monash University will open a campus in Malaysia
Monash University , Australia's largest university, announced that it plans to build a second campus in Malaysia: its preliminary cost is AUD$1 billion.

The big news came at an event in Kuala Lumpur, where Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrived along with Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Zambri Abdul Kadir. First details of the project are the following:

  • Campus area — 36 hectares,
  • The location of the city is the financial center of Kuala Lumpur, next to the first branch of an Australian university, which opened in 1998,
  • Opening date — 2032,
  • The capacity of the educational center is 22,500 students and 1700 employees,
  • Particular attention will be paid to research centers that will deal with energy, healthcare, artificial intelligence and data processing.

The construction of a new Monash University campus abroad will be an important part of Australia's strategy to strengthen its position in Southeast Asia, increasing the attractiveness of Malaysia as a destination for quality education among foreign students.
