Weather

Thailand is a state in Southeast Asia, which is located on the peninsulas of Malacca and Indochina. Thailand is washed by the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, the South China Sea. The large length from north to south made the islands attractive for tourists throughout the year: the average temperature in winter will be about + 25C, in summer + 30C, which is why wintering in Thailand is so popular. At the same time, 2 seasons reign on the islands - the rainy season and the dry season. The dry season lasts from November to March, is characterized by predominantly clear weather and therefore is considered a tourist one. During the rainy season, the weather gets hotter, the sea often storms and it rains. There are much fewer tourists at this time, lower prices for hotels and food.

Population

In terms of population composition, this is a multinational state: Khmers and Thais, immigrants from Vietnam, Malaysia and China live here. The main religion of the local population is Buddhism.

Economy

This is an underdeveloped country: most of the population is engaged in agriculture. Despite this, Thailand has managed to create a developed service sector: there are all conditions for attracting tourists.

Visa

To visit the country for up to 30 days, a visa is not required, at the airport you need to present:

  • International passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand
  • 800 $ in cash per person - the minimum amount of cash for entry
  • Return Departure Ticket
  • Voucher
  • Insurance policy
  • Air ticket.

  • Passenger trains move quite slowly, but there is an opportunity to see a beautiful country
  • City taxis have a TAXI-METER board, no tips are provided in a taxi, average cost: from 60 to 150 baht

How to relax on a budget: all inclusive, work in Thailand

Flight

Choose not direct, but connecting flights - always cheaper. It is convenient to browse flights on flight search sites: Skyscanner, Aviasales, where you can often find interesting offers from top airlines and buy a ticket for 250 $ one way.

Time and place of travel

The high season in the country starts in November and ends in May, with the most expensive tickets for Catholic Christmas and New Years. To save money, it is best to go to the islands during the low season, which lasts from June to October. At this time, on the remote islands - Phi Phi, Changa, Phangan - the number of tourists is minimal and prices are significantly reduced.

Hotel

In the case of a long vacation, it is more economical to rent an apartment in a guest house for a month than to pay by the day. Let's compare prices:

  • Day stay in a guest house: 500 baht (7,500 baht per half month)
  • Monthly room in the guest house: 5,500 baht.

Nutrition

You can eat on a budget by buying food in supermarkets, even ready-made food in them will cost you cheap: a portion of rice with scrambled eggs costs 12-14 baht. Another option is small fast food stalls: rice and chicken will cost 20 baht. Prices in food courts are comparable to prices in inexpensive Chinese cafes. Finally, you can cook on your own by buying a rice cooker or taking a multicooker with you.

Excursions

Choosing excursions from tour operators and at hotels, you run the risk of overpaying with interest. Especially high prices are offered by tour operators, who, upon arrival, persistently convince tourists to buy excursions. Cheaper to take from a local agency if you speak English and don't need a guide. An excursion for 4 people from local companies will cost an average of 4000 baht, and at the hotel the same excursion is sold twice as much.

Work in Thailand

Many people are attracted to Thailand not as a tourist route, but as a place to earn money. Due to the large influx of people who want to earn extra money, the country's authorities have introduced a law to protect jobs for Thais. There is a whole list of prohibited professions in the country, and therefore you will most likely be offered to work illegally. More fortunate for graduates with a high level of English and decent work experience: teachers, programmers, translators and those wishing to start a business in Thailand have every chance to succeed in this country.

What to do in Thailand

Shopping, beach holidays and Thai cuisine are popular among tourists, SPA and Thai massage are especially popular. To save money, order a Thai massage not at the hotel, but on the beach. On public beaches you will find a large number of "massage rooms", the cost of services in which will be 400-500 baht, in the hotel - 2-3 times more. Another type of service on the beaches is photography, but beware of fraud here. Often tourists are faced with the fact that photographers promise to give the printed photos to the guide, but after receiving the money, they simply disappear. And, perhaps, the main attractions of Thailand are natural beauties, historical man-made monuments, Buddhist temples, water activities and nightlife. It is simply impossible to see everything in one trip, therefore, having arrived in Thailand once, you will certainly want to come back here.
