IB Primary Stage, International Baccalaureate Programme for Primary Grades
- Age – from three to 12 years,
- The duration of the study is nine years.
The International Baccalaureate (PYP) Primary Years curriculum is designed with the child's natural curiosity in mind, which is encouraged daily in engaging activities. The program for children from 3 to 12 years old aims to develop young research students both in and out of the classroom.
Students participate in four to six "units of research" per year. To ensure that children acquire a broad knowledge base, research units are designed around six themes:
- Who are we?
- Where are we in place and time?
- How does the world work?
- How do we organize ourselves?
- How do we express ourselves?
- Conscious consumption and ecology.
Six subject areas are grouped into learning blocks to provide a transdisciplinary approach to teaching young learners:
- Tongue
- Social Studies,
- Personal, social and physical education,
- Mathematics
- Science & Technology,
- Art.
All classes are held in a game format with the encouragement of research, discussion of the topic with the teacher and classmates.
The PYP is the first of the four IB study programmes: it provides students with an excellent foundation for progression to middle school and then to high school and contributes to effective preparation for final exams.
IB Middle Stage, International Baccalaureate Middle School Programme

- The duration of the study is five years.
After completing the initial stage, students enter the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), which prepares them for the end of their secondary education.
The MYP programme is education from grades 6 to 10. The curriculum aims to help students develop academic knowledge and personal qualities through modern methodologies and approaches:
- Teaching and learning in context – students learn best when their learning experiences are contextual, connected to their lives and the world,
- Conceptual Understanding – Students use concepts as a means to explore issues and ideas of personal, local, and global significance,
- Approaches to Learning (ATL) is the unifying thread of all subject groups, providing a framework for independent learning and research,
- Service as action (community service) – learning by doing and experiencing, service has always been the values of the IB community. Students strive to be members of society who demonstrate a commitment to service by making positive changes in the lives of others and the environment,
- Language and Identity – Students will have to learn at least two languages: they are fundamental to the development of intercultural understanding and the affirmation of their identity.
The MYP programme consists of eight subject groups grouped into five interactive areas. Students are required to study:
- At least two languages as part of their multilingual profile,
- Humanities
- Science
- Mathematics
- Art
- Physical Education,
- Technology.
In their final year, students will create a personal project to demonstrate the development of their skills and understanding.
IB Diploma Programme
- Age — from 16 to 18 years old,
- The duration of the training is two years.
The IBDP Diploma Program is a two-year academically challenging, rigorous, and balanced program with final examinations that prepares students for university. The world's leading universities recognise and respect the outstanding diverse qualities of IB Diploma students.
The curriculum consists of a core group of disciplines and six subject groups, as well as several compulsory courses.
Six subject groups:
- Research in the field of language and literature,
- Language acquisition,
- Individuals and Societies,
- Science
- Mathematics
- Art.
Each subject group offers a different course, and students must choose one subject from each of the first five groups + an art subject or a second subject from groups 1 through 5.
In addition to the chosen disciplines, there are courses:
- Extended Essay – invites students to take part in independent research by in-depth study of a question relevant to one of the DP subjects they are studying,
- Theory of Knowledge (TOK) – develops a sequential approach to learning that integrates academic disciplines. In this critical thinking course, students explore the nature of cognition and deepen their understanding of knowledge as a human construct,
- Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) – engages students in a range of activities alongside academic study throughout the diploma program. Creativity encourages students to engage in art and creative thinking, action aims to promote healthy living through physical activity, and service offers a vehicle for new learning that has academic value. The three pillars of CAS promote students' personal and interpersonal development through experiential learning.
At the end of the diploma programme, students take written examinations which are assessed by external IB examiners, complete assessment assignments at the school, which are either initially assessed by teachers and then moderated by external moderators, or sent directly to external examiners. Grades given for each course range from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest), students can be awarded up to 3 additional points for the combined results of the TOC and the extended essay.
The diploma is awarded to graduates who score at least 24 points, subject to achieving a certain minimum level of academic achievement throughout the program and satisfactory participation in the TOC requirements. The highest amount a DP student can receive is 45 points.
IB Career-based Program
- Age — from 16 to 18 years old,
- The duration of the training is two years.
The IB Career-based programme has been designed to combine two areas of study: academic and vocational, it accepts all the high standards of International Baccalaureate education and includes IB Diploma academic subjects that students can study. But Career-based has a more specific career focus that allows students to take an additional external course and obtain a British BTEC (Business and Technical Education Council) level qualification 3, which satisfies many requirements for admission to the university.
The BTEC course is module-based and has a rigorous internal and external ongoing assessment process, is approved by the KHDA in Dubai and is listed in the UK University Admissions System known as UCAS (Central University Admissions Service). Currently, BTEC is implemented in more than 140 countries around the world, it is recognized by many international universities, colleges and employers.
IBCP students take a minimum of two IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses, a core IBCP course consisting of four components, and career-related training, participating in practical internships with local companies to gain insight into the real-world work environment.

Educational process
At Greenfield International School, the main language of instruction is English. If a foreign student finds it difficult to study, the school offers additional EAL courses. The main task is to help students master the English language so that they can achieve the expected learning outcomes, develop intellectually and strive for admission to English-speaking universities around the world.
At GIS, the Arabic language is taught in accordance with the requirements of the KHDA and the Ministry of Education, combined with the standards and requirements of the IB curriculum. Arabic language lessons are compulsory: all Arab students registered at the school with an Arab passport are required to study the language as a first language from Pre-K to grade 12 inclusive, and foreign nationals can attend language classes in addition to the core subjects from Pre-K to grade 9 inclusive.
The Modern Foreign Language Program (MFL) is the study of French (from 1), German (from 6) and Spanish (6 and 11) in classes of different levels.
The Mother Tongue Program is the maintenance and development of language skills and literacy in the mother tongue, which ensures the continuous cognitive development of students and promotes multilingualism. The Mother Tongue program provides students with a unique opportunity to improve their first language as part of the school curriculum. Admission dates and extra charges
The academic year consists of three terms and lasts from the end of August to the beginning of July. Trimester dates:
- Winter: August-December,
- Spring: January-March,
- Summer: April-July.
At the end of each trimester, there is a vacation that lasts for one to two weeks. Rest is also provided on international, national holidays and weekly weekends.
The lesson schedule differs depending on the class level: from 7:45-7:50 to 13:00-15:10. On Fridays, classes end earlier than on other weekdays.
The list of additional costs consists of the registration fee, application fee, KHDA fees, and deposit. The student will have to pay for meals on campus, some additional classes, activities and sports sections.

Parents of prospective students must provide copies of the following documents:

- Health insurance and vaccination certificates, psychologist's reports and any available diagnostic evaluations,

- Passport-size photo.
The edcation at GIS takes place in English, so for comfortable and effective assimilation of knowledge, a level of at least B1 is required. In case of lack of knowledge, the student is provided with additional language classes.
