FAQ: How to apply for a bachelor's degree in New York?

Universities in New York are interested in the successful employment of their graduates, are famous for their business partners, arranging internships for yesterday's students. Education in the United States is one of the most expensive in the world, and there are simply no budget places familiar to us, but everyone can apply for financial assistance-scholarship, which will fully or partially cover the cost of studying.

Many universities have multi-million dollar funds that are ready to provide such assistance not only to Americans, but also to foreign students. It is worth remembering that according to the standard, American schoolchildren study for 12 years, so due to the difference in the terms of study, there are two options for admission to the bachelor's program by foreign citizens.

What is a bachelor's degree in USA?

The bachelor's program is enrolled after graduation or after the local community college. Education lasts 4 years. Upon admission, students do not choose a specialty immediately: they have 2 years to try different subjects, and only by the end of the second year they must take their future specialty.

Admission for foreign students

If you have already passed the first or second year of a bachelor's degree abroad, then you will not be able to enter the first year in America and start all over again. There will be a transfer - a transfer from one place of study to another. Students who use this service are usually unable to qualify for financial aid.

How to get Bachelor's degree?

  1. The first option is to pass the national entrance exam. For a foreign student, this will be a difficult test, since the necessary material is not taught at school, and self-preparation with specialized tutors will take large sums of money and a large amount of time.
  2. The second option: admission to the preparatory year at the selected institute. Universities in America offer a preparatory program for international students, helping to pass the material for the 12th grade. You pass it in a year and are almost guaranteed to enter.

English proficiency

Of course, for admission to an American university requires a good knowledge of English, confirmed by a certificate of TOEFL or IELTS sample (6.0/6.5).
