Description of King's College Taunton

  • Students ages: 13-18.

The history of the King's College Taunton began as early as 1552 : Bishop Richard Fox of Winchester (who, incidentally, was an important and practically key figure in the famous Henry VII Secret Council) created a British school for boys named Bishop Fox Grammar School. The school in 1880 received the new name King's College Taunton, in 1968 began to accept girls, and today the institution has completely switched to mixed education - here boys and girls from all over the world aged from 13 to 18 can study.

The campus is located in the town of Taunton, with a population of almost 100,000. The city is in Somerset County (southwest England): the road to Heathrow International Airport takes about 3 hours.

Today, 420 students are studying at King's College Taunton. Academic education has long received the respect and recognition of colleagues throughout the UK - many graduates enter the most prestigious and ranking universities in the UK immediately after the completion of the senior class program. At the A-level exams in 2012, almost 100% of schoolchildren received high scores (A * -B), and at GCSE this percentage was 94% of all exams.

Review about King's College Taunton

Vladislava P.
(30.05.2019)
Our son studied at King’s Taunton from 2019 to 2020 on the pre‑A‑level programme. We chose this college on the recommendation of our Smart Products and Services manager, Yulia. We were looking for an affordable international boarding school in England that could offer a tuition discount, because our budget was limited. Location wasn’t important. After the entrance exams and interview, the school told us they were willing to offer a 10% discount, which was decisive for us. Our son really liked the school and the teachers, it was a good place to adapt and learn English among native speakers. Unfortunately, for personal reasons we couldn’t continue our studies in England, but we remember this school with gratitude.

A relatively small international school in a quiet, peaceful location. From London it takes just over three hours by train or school transfer. Almost everyone books the school transfer – everyone leaves for holidays at the same time, and it works out cheap. Excellent teaching in maths and chemistry. And overall, all the teachers are sensible and pleasant.

I really love my school. I’ve been studying here for three years, and I’m now in my first year of A‑levels. Before that, I attended a school with an advanced English programme, and my English was good. But at the beginning, when I started my GCSEs at King’s College, it was a bit hard to study maths and other subjects in English – I had to translate a lot. The teachers helped me a lot with anything I didn’t understand. There’s also an academic tutor who can help if you have any problems with your studies. The school has lots of extracurricular activities and sports, and there are frequent competitions between schools.
