African Studies is an academic area that studies political, economic, cultural events and trends in Africa. Programs in this area can be country-oriented, region-specific, or for specific periods of time, such as colonization and its aftermath.
Bachelor's and Master's programs are based on regional studies, students have an additional opportunity to learn Afrikaans, local dialects.
Students study basic subjects in 1, 2 courses, later choose a specialization, choosing from a number of additional courses, such as:
- History
- Politics
- Religion
- Literature
- Culture.
Acquaintance with the ancient culture and peoples of this region is provided through the modules on religious studies, Islamic art, archeology. Modules in Arabic are offered to those with a good command of the language, while Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Turkish are available for those who wish to acquire or develop additional language skills.
