TOP rarest languages in the world

How many languages are there today? Presumably several hundred or even thousands. Including various dialects, there are approximately 7000 languages on Earth. We are talking about the rarest, living and endangered ones.

Kwama

It is common in the south of Benishangul Gumuz, the Ethiopian region. Kwama is considered almost extinct, only about 300 people use it.

Basque

It is used by approximately 700,000 people in the Basque Country along the border between France and Spain . Some people who also use Basque live in European regions and parts of America and Australia. Basque includes many dialects that differ markedly from each other. During the Second World War, this language, due to its non-prevalence, was used by radio operators-encryptors.

Frisian

It speaks about 700 thousand people, most of whom live in the Netherlands in Friesland. A small part is located in the northwestern part of Germany , and a small part occupies the far north. Frisian is very similar to Old English, and is often confused with Dutch.

Miao, or Hmong (Miao)

Miao is a group of dialects belonging to the Miao people in China, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos. It is used for communication by about 4 million people. Miao dialects are divided into mutually understandable and completely different, sometimes perceived as a separate language.

Faroese

This dialect is common in Denmark, in the Faroe Islands, where about 50 thousand people live according to the 2011 census. The overwhelming majority of the population considers this language to be their native language: they create literary works in Faroese, broadcast radio and television broadcasts, and publish correspondence. Faroese is spoken by about 80 thousand.

Sarsi

It is the native language of the Canadian Sarsi tribe and is spoken by about 2,000 people. Sarsi does not imply writing, because tribal culture is transmitted orally.

Tok Pisin

It is the official language in Papua New Guinea, spoken by approximately 4 million inhabitants. It is used in the media and as the official language of government bodies, but less widely than English. An interesting feature of tok-pisin is the presence of many different pronouns.

Gothic

Of course, the word "Gothic" has been familiar to you for a long time, but it is not only style or architecture. The same word designates the earliest Germanic language, which had its own font, which is a combination of Latin and Greek characters. The first printed books with this font were created in the 15th century in Italy. Today, Gothic is an extinct language.

Shona

It spread in South Africa, mainly in Zimbabwe, being its official language. It is used by about 80% of the population. Shona is spoken by about 10 million people.

Chamicuro

This is an extremely rare, practically unknown language, which is spoken by only 8 (!) People today. Chamikuro is the official language in Peru in the city of Lagunas. There are 10 to 20 people living there, belonging to the Chamikuro tribe. The language is used only by adults, and the younger generations prefer Spanish. Despite this, the language even has dictionaries!
