Pea soup
Did you know that pea soup is a classic dish of French Canada? The story goes that Marc Myron, the mayor of Ottawa, planning to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the travels of Samuel de Champlain, a researcher from France, was interested in what Champlain and others ate when they settled in the new land. It turned out to be pea soup! In long journeys, peas and cured meat are relevant (they were stored for a long time) - so there was a soup that is eaten to this day.
