TOP-10 tips for passing HSK

When learning Chinese, if you get down to business seriously, sooner or later you will have to face HSK. This is an international qualification exam, whose main purpose is to determine the level of Chinese proficiency among people studying it as a foreign language. In general, it resembles the well-known TOEFL (which checks the level of English), but has some peculiarities.

It is believed that preparation for the exam is not necessary . In fact, it happens that students with excellent knowledge of Chinese do not get the number of points they are capable of (do you feel a parallel with the Unified State Exam in Russian?). What's the catch? How to prepare for the exam? We suggest that you familiarize yourself with tips that will help you get a high score.

Focus on a common format

The content of the exam may change, but the format remains the same. Sample assignment options will help prepare for HSK and reduce the impact of student stress. The answer sheets remain the same for each level. You can find them online and practice filling them out.

Train your speed

When preparing for the exam, you should pay great attention to speed. After the narrator has read the text, 45 minutes are given to answer 50 questions. As you try out, set a timeline and aim for progress.

Don't be distracted by notes

Taking notes while listening will distract you from the content. But notes in the "letter" section will help to avoid repetitions and overloaded sentences.

Skip questionable questions

Leave unclear questions for later and move on so as not to waste precious time. After completing the main part of the work, return to the controversial tasks.

Fill out the forms immediately after completing the task block

When you finish writing or listening, immediately transfer your answers to the form. You do not need to answer on the form while completing assignments: it will take time and affect concentration.

Keep your answers simple

Avoid grammar clutter and repetition. If you are not sure about the spelling of a character, please reformulate your answer.

Get ready for living words

There is no standard word list in the exam. You should be ready for live communication. Work on expanding your vocabulary, learn words not from the dictionary, but together with the context, use them in your essays, learn to combine them into thematic schemes. In preparation for listening, watching films and programs, but at least the same YouTube, will help.

Use everything you can take for the exam

You can take a watch for the exam: use it to keep track of the remaining time. The index finger will help you follow the lines while reading and do not miss important information. Yes, let's read like little ones!

Use the remaining time wisely

Use the time remaining after completing the work to check questions raised in doubt. To quickly find controversial points, mark them with an exclamation mark.

Believe in your own strength

We always mark this point, because without it the truth is nowhere. Self-confidence will help you overcome fear and discomfort. Do not check the answers to the questions several times: this approach will only be confusing and insecure.
