The UNESCO World Heritage List has received new sights and phenomena annually since 1978. Now there are more than 1150 objects on the list around the planet, and each of them is of great value to human civilization.
- The first place in the world is occupied by Italy with 58 UNESCO sites. The country has entire cities that are recognized as particularly important sites for human culture. The monuments of Italy include the historic centers of Rome, Naples and Siena. Natural objects and masterpieces of the human hand are also on the list: the Dolomites, Mount Etna and 23 works by local creators.
- Italy is followed by the Celestial Empire and its 54 World Heritage Sites: ancient caves, palaces, mausoleums, temples and other sites.
- From Europe in the list there are 4 more European countries: France, Germany, Great Britain and Spain. They have not natural, but cultural masterpieces, and their number varies from 33 to 51 most valuable monuments.
- The top ten is closed by Iran, on the territory of which there are 26 objects listed in the UNESCO list.
- India and Mexico have an equal number of World Heritage sites with 40 monuments each.
