Yesterday - school for girls, tomorrow - high school with coeducation! This is briefly about the transition of Harrogate Ladies' College to the new name of Duchy College and the accompanying changes. Co-educational programs will be available in high school: boys will be able to join girls from 7th or 12th grade. By the fall of 2026, the Sixth Form Centre will appear on campus, where there will be individual classes, halls for sports training and games, rooms for additional courses and master classes. The new name will reflect the geographical location of the boarding school: Duchy is the area of the city in which the school is located.
An interesting fact: initially the school began its work in 1893 as an institution only for boys, later it was reclassified as a high school for girls with additional preparatory groups, where boys were still admitted.
Despite the big changes, the school's management remains the same, including the principal and members of the Board of Governors.
