International higher education in India continues to develop actively — more and more well-known universities are entering the country's market through partnership models. One such step was the collaboration between Education Centre of Australia and Birkbeck, University of London, as part of the launch of a campus in Bangalore. This project became part of a broader strategy aimed at bringing British and Australian universities closer to Indian students. For Education Centre of Australia, this is not merely a standalone partnership, but part of a large-scale transition to a global campus model — the company has been working in the field of international education for 20+ years and is now actively expanding its presence across different countries.
The new Birkbeck, University of London campus in India will be supported by ECA not only on the organizational side, but also in matters of educational infrastructure development. The goal of the project is to give students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an international business environment without leaving India.
The official launch of the project took place with the participation of representatives from the education sector and government bodies, including representatives of the University Grants Commission and the British diplomatic corps in India.
Today, about 20 international universities are already planning or opening campuses in India — universities from the UK and Australia are particularly active in this. In response to this growth, ECA launched a separate division called UniQuad, which focuses on creating educational hubs in major cities, including Bangalore, Delhi, and Ahmedabad: these centers are intended to give students access to international programs and career prospects without the need to travel abroad.
The Bangalore campus will be the first in this series of projects. It will be located in Sattva Tech Park — one of the largest technology clusters in the city. It is planned that bachelor's and master's business programs will be available here, and the cost of tuition will be significantly lower than in London — by up to 60%.
For Birkbeck, this is already the tenth British university to officially announce the launch of a campus in India. The first intake of students is expected as early as July.
