Description of Federal University of Viçosa
Non-profit higher education institution located in Brazil. This university for the first time opens its doors to applicants in 1922. The university has a campus in Vicosa.
Federal University of Viçosa celebrated its centennial in 2026. Events on the Viçosa campus included the UFV Fest 100 festival, with musical performances at Quatro Pilastras square, and the graduation of a symbolic centennial class (turma do centenário).
The university has a dedicated postgraduate education portal with an English-language section for international partners. It covers joint academic programs and projects. The university also has a Directorate of International Relations (Diretoria de Relações Internacionais).
Educational process
The university provides several student support services: a tutoring system (Tutoria), a student support service (Apoio ao Estudante), a faculty support service (Apoio ao Professor), and an Interdisciplinary Unit for Inclusive Policies.

Sports and recreation
Across all three campuses, university departments and the Department of Physical Education organize competitive and recreational sports and leisure activities. The Division of Sport and Leisure (Divisão de Esporte e Lazer, DLZ) develops these activities for faculty, staff, and students. On the Viçosa campus, the Department of Physical Education offers university students sports classes in a range of disciplines.
Luve, a student sports association, runs the university's competitive sports through the Viçosa University Sports League (LUVE). The league involves more than 300 athletes, 50 coaching staff members, and 10 directors. All participants are undergraduate or graduate students.
Eficap is a student consulting company made up exclusively of Physical Education students. It provides consulting for sports events, children's sports camps, and futsal officiating, and runs courses for students in the program and other learners.
Extension and culture
The Office of the Pro-Rector for Extension and Culture (Pró-Reitoria de Extensão e Cultura, PEC) coordinates extension and cultural programs through an extension and outreach office, a cultural affairs office, and an events office. Each year, the university supports programs and projects registered in the RAEX system.
Cultural activities on the Viçosa campus include performances by the university's wind ensemble, university choir, Nossa Voz choir, and university theater troupe. A volunteer-run film club has screened and discussed noncommercial films and videos for more than four decades, including world cinema from various countries in themed screenings.
A creative workshop in Vila Giannetti supports musical activities, including several choirs, a children's choir, and an orchestra. Its vocal and instrumental workshops are open by selection to the university community and local residents.
The campus also has an art gallery near the Caixa Econômica Federal building. Theater workshops take place in the Department of Home Economics auditorium.
Regular cultural activities include:

Campuses
The Viçosa campus is in the city of Viçosa, in the Zona da Mata region, 225 km from Belo Horizonte. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in agricultural sciences, biological and health sciences, exact and technological sciences, and humanities, languages, and arts.
The Florestal campus is located at Rodovia LMG 818, km 6, in the city of Florestal, Minas Gerais, CEP 35.690-000, within the Belo Horizonte metropolitan region. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the same four academic areas, as well as technical courses combined with high school, post-secondary technical courses, and technology courses.
The Rio Paranaíba campus is in the city of Rio Paranaíba, in the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba region. It has two units. One is on highway MG-230, km 8, about 2.8 km from the city, and houses the library, an auditorium, faculty and course coordination offices, and administrative and financial departments. The other is 1,300 meters from highway BR-354, km 310, about 12 km from the city, and has classrooms, auditoriums, and laboratories. The campus offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the same four academic areas.
Facilities and innovation
All three campuses have extensive green areas, spaces for leisure and socializing, sports courts, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, and auditoriums used for musical, theatrical, and dance events.
On the Viçosa campus, CenTev runs tecnoPARQ, a technology park with an incubation program for technology startups. The program offers resident and virtual formats, shared infrastructure, and management and technical consulting for entrepreneurs.
