The oldest university in Serbia, Belgrade, continues the traditions of the higher school founded in Belgrade in 1808. It is also the best in all rating selections. The University of Belgrade has more than 90,000 students in 31 faculties. The University of Belgrade is the country's largest research center, including 11 research laboratories and centers. The Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade is the main center for teaching the Serbian language in the country.

Bachelor's and Master's degrees at universities in Serbia – study programs in Serbian and English. The University of Belgrade has more than 20 programs in English, and Novi Sad has more than 40. Most often, these are master's programs. Studying in English in Serbia is noticeably more expensive than in Serbian.

Admission conditions may vary depending on the chosen university and specialty. But in any case, foreign applicants must provide a certified document on education (certificate or diploma) with a translation into Serbian or English. The certificate of secondary education must be legalized (confirmed, nostrified) in the Ministry of Education of Serbia.

A diploma of higher education can be nostrified there or in the university's own commission. Here the decision is made by the university. Nostrification of educational documents is a paid procedure.

Requirements for admission to universities in Serbia:

• Pass the Serbian language proficiency exam or receive an English proficiency certificate,
• Choose a university and apply (in person or remotely),
• Nostrify a certificate or diploma,
• Pass the entrance exams.

Foreigners are enrolled in universities in Serbia on the basis of a general competition.
