For the first time since the end of 2023, British universities have noted a significant increase in the number of applications that foreign applicants submit for educational visas: in January of this year, citizens of other countries submitted about 29,000 applications that will allow them to obtain sponsored visas to study in the UK. This number is 13% more than a year ago.
The number of applications is growing in parallel with the approved and issued visas for foreign applicants: in December 2024, there were 169% (!) more such cases than in November last year. Also this jump was the largest since July 2022.
However, British universities will also face difficulties in the next academic year: the Office for Students structure believes that 72% of universities will face a financial deficit. Last academic year, there were only 40% of such universities.
