54 British universities took part in a survey from Universities UK International. The results showed that almost 80% of these universities do not enroll the number of students that is predicted before the start of admission campaigns! One of the reasons for the "failed" enrollment in universities is the decline in the number of foreign students: last academic year, their number decreased by almost 7%, the overall decrease was about 13%.
Due to the negative dynamics, the administrations of British universities are forced to act not in the paradigm of development, but in the paradigm of maintaining stability. The authorities of the United Kingdom recognize the problem with the lack of students and are considering different options to solve it.
Recall that not so long ago, the United Kingdom tightened its migration policy, which naturally affected the decline in interest from foreign students. For example, in 2024, the number of applications for study visas in the UK decreased by 14%.
