With winter comes, our only desire increasingly becomes to huddle under the blanket with a mug of hot cocoa and not get out of there until the first March thaws. But life does not stand still, you still have to get out into the street. But you can do this not only for the sake of shopping and going to work - after all, there are much more pleasant options!
For example, you can go on a trip. In case you dare, we've put together a selection of unusual hotels around the world. The secret of them is that they are all made of... ice.

IceHotel
The first hotel in our review is located in the Swedish village of Jukkasjärvi, in the very north of the country. No two rooms are the same in this hotel – each was designed by the same architect, in accordance with the traditions of his country, so the design is unique. For example, the Crystal Forest Suite – literally "crystal forest" – is decorated in such a way as to create the illusion that one is in a real forest; This is made possible by the crystalline columns that stretch along the vaults. There are rooms made of ice, reminiscent of a traditional Moroccan dwelling or a wooden hut (hello to the hare and the fox from the famous fairy tale).
The hotel is all-season; In summer, the ice does not melt due to a well-thought-out microclimate and artificial cooling with the help of solar panels.
Fell Centre Kiilopaa, Hotel Niilanpaa
This Lapland hotel (located in the Finnish part of Lapland, in a rather cozy and very picturesque place) is a whole complex, including several chalets, the hotel itself and several igloos.
Ideal for observing the northern lights - especially since there is a full-fledged observatory right next to the hotel. Other available entertainments include skiing, hot springs in the forest a dozen kilometers away (although you can get to them only on foot, or rather on skis), a traditional, smoke-style Finnish bath.
Hotel de Glace
This Canadian hotel is one of a kind. It is built entirely of ice and snow, located on the outskirts of Quebec City, the capital of the province of the same name. Literally everything is made of ice here - 44 rooms (there are both rooms for couples and designed for a single guest), and furniture, and tables in the restaurant, and even a bar counter. Moreover, even cocktails and alcohol are served here in glasses, which are made of the purest spring ice (it's good that the food and bed linen are real)! In general, you can feel like Kai from the fairy tale about the Snow Queen - but, unlike the boy with an ice cube in his heart, you will have at your disposal a magnificent sauna and a complex of hot baths in the open air.
Lapland Snow Village
Lapland Snow Village is famous for being completely unpredictable – every time you come here, you are greeted by a completely different location. The fact is that every year this snowy village with all the rooms, detached suites and even a restaurant, bar and church is completely rebuilt. It would be superfluous to specify that all this was made of ice, right?
Lac Salin Spa & Mountain Resort
This hotel is also built of ice and snow, although it is located at a considerable distance from the Arctic Circle. Located in the city of Livigno, the Alps help not to melt. The rooms, again, are icy, so you will have to spend the night in special sleeping bags on thermally insulating mats. But in absolute silence, peace, at an altitude of two kilometers in the heart of the Italian Alps!
