From next calendar year, the two top universities in the United Kingdom will become a single organization: such a collaboration will allow them to create a new multi-university group against the backdrop of the economic crisis that the country's education sector is experiencing.
The University of Greenwich and the University of Kent have announced the tentative name of the university association that will create from their merger. The "draft" option is the London and South East University Group. The merger of universities will not spoil the unique identity of each of them: the main part of the features will be preserved, and operational processes will become common, which will help the management to distribute funding more rationally. According to university administrations, the signing of partnership agreements is the first step towards the creation of a super-university, which will cover the territory from Canterbury to London.
The total number of students after the merger of the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent will exceed 47,000 people.
