Syiah Kuala University (USK) is the largest, oldest national university in Aceh. The beginning of the work was laid in 1960, when the economic, veterinary, livestock faculties were opened. At the moment, there are several dozen faculties in USK, where you can get associate specialist, bachelor's, master's degrees. Training is based on a narrow-profile study of the areas:

Dates of the academic year:
- First semester: February to August
- Closing student debts, solving academic issues: June-August
- Second semester: August-January.
Students rest on weekends, national and public holidays, as well as in the intervals of debt delivery, if they do not have student arrears.
The course of study is calculated in credits. The weight of one credit includes 50 minutes of face-to-face classes, group and independent activities of 60 minutes per week. For each program, an individual number of hours of classes are set for successful completion, but masters need 36 credits per course to obtain a diploma.
