For the first time in history, an American university opens a campus in India

Illinois Institute of Technology is the first U.S. university to be allowed by the UGC University Grants Commission to open a branch in Mumbai. Now the head management of the university is designing a campus that will receive the first students in 2026.

Indian students on the new campus will have access to the Elevate program, which will allow them to work on research projects in the field of technical sciences and select promising internships. In addition, the branch will collaborate with other international Illinois Tech campuses so that students can share experiences as part of an exchange program.
