China University of Geosciences (CUG)is a key national university under the Ministry of Education. CUG is included in the National "Project 211", "Innovative Platform 985 for Advanced Disciplines" and "Dual First Class Learning Plan". The university, specializing in earth sciences, is a universal university that also offers many degree programs in science, technology, literature, management, economics, law, education and the arts. His "Geology", "Geological Resources" and "Engineering" were recognized as national disciplines No. 1.
In December 2020, there were 30,239 full-time students studying here: 18,080 undergraduate students, 9,302 undergraduates, 1916 doctoral students and 941 foreigners. CUG has 23 affiliated schools and 86 research institutes. Currently, the university has 1858 full-time teachers, including 539 professors (11 of whom are members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) and 984 associate professors.

There are several dozen student associations at the university, one of the leading ones is the CCPA – an art group for those fond of calligraphy and painting. The series of lectures "History of China" is a corporate event of the Chinese University of Geological and Geophysical Research. From June 21 to July 15, 2018, the lecture series "History of China: The Path of Development of Industrial Civilization in Huangshi" was successfully organized by CUG in cooperation with the Huangshi Bureau of Human Resources and Social Affairs. CUG is located on the original campus of the former Beijing Institute of Geology on Xueyuan Street, where 8 famous universities and academic traditions are concentrated.

Metro prices depend on the mileage of the trip and start from 2 yuan:

- 4-12 km: 1 yuan/km
- 12-24 km: 1 yuan/6 km
- 24-40 km: 1 yuan/8 km
- 40-50 km: 1 yuan/10 km
- More than 50 km: 1 yuan/20 km.
The maximum time limit between entering and exiting the subway is 180 minutes.
Public buses in Wuhan run without ticket offices. Passengers can pay by transport card or cash on the bus. The cost of tickets, depending on the duration of the trip, usually varies from 1 to 3 yuan.
The minimum fare for a taxi with a meter is 10 yuan.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol
Age restrictions for applicants to the bachelor's degree are from 18 to 25 years. When submitting an application, the applicant should provide:
- Certificate of secondary education
- Official academic references (transcripts)
- Personal resume in Chinese/English
- Two letters of recommendation in Chinese/English from teachers
- Copies of the medical examination form valid for six months
- A copy of the page with personal data of a valid passport, as well as visa documents for foreign applicants
- HSK or TOFEL/IELTS certificates. Candidates whose language level of HSK4 and above 190 points are preferred for enrollment
- SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB test results, etc.
- Other materials (certificates, certificates of achievement, etc.).
In the absence of sufficient scores on the language test, applicants have the opportunity to take a one-year course in Chinese at the university.
Applications for bachelor's degree are accepted from January 1 to May 1.
Admission to the magistracy:

- Medical certificate of physical, mental health
- HSK or TOFEL/IELTS certificates. Candidates whose language level of HSK4 and above 190 points are preferred for enrollment

Applications for master's and doctoral programs are accepted from January 1 to April 1.
