Montenegro is a country located on the Balkan Peninsula, which is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination among travelers from all over the world due to its beauty and many attractions. However, in addition to tourist destinations, Montenegro attracts with its educational opportunities, for example, studying in schools with the International Baccalaureate program. The country ranks 54th in the world ranking of countries in terms of the quality of education. Obtaining an IB in Montenegro will open up many new opportunities for the student.

What advice would you give to potential students before applying to an university?
Be proactive and start your application early, ideally almost a year in advance. Seek recommendations from your teachers and academic advisors. The earlier you apply, the more time universities have to consider your application, and the more time you have to explore your options and make an informed decision.

IB schools in Montenegro offer a high level of education in various subjects: math, foreign languages, science and social sciences. In IB schools students can get a quality education, which helps them enter universities in different countries of the world.
There are 4 levels of education under the IB scheme:
- Primary Years Program - pupils 3-11 years old,
- Middle Years Program - 11-16 years old,
- Diploma Program IB - 16-19 years,
- Career-related Program - 16-19 years.
There is only one IB school in Montenegro providing quality education to international students at the moment - Knightsbridge School International Montenegro (KSI). It offers a variety of courses and programs, providing students with the international standards of education necessary for success in a globalized world.
Subjects in the IB program in Montenegro
The IB program involves studying six subjects from six different subject groups (a total of 36 subjects). Students study three subjects in-depth over 240 hours, and the remaining three subjects at a standard level over 150 hours. The most common approach is to select advanced courses based on the programs required for admission to the desired university and preferred major.

- Second Language (Foreign Language)
- Social Sciences (such as History, Psychology, Philosophy, Geography, Economics, etc.)
- Natural Sciences (such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc.)

Cost of IB in Montenegro
The cost of the academic year depends on the program the child will be enrolled in, which in turn depends on the student’s age, and ranges from $11,000 to $19,000. The program for children aged 3-4 years costs around $11,000, while the annual tuition for students aged 16-18 years is from $18,000.
Scholarships
IB schools in Montenegro may offer scholarships to students on an individual basis. For instance, at KSI, nurturing and providing opportunities for young talents to achieve success and become who they can be is a priority. Each year, the school offers academic scholarships to outstanding students: they must demonstrate excellent academic performance, active participation in extracurricular activities, positive personal qualities, and strong communication skills. Scholarships can amount to up to $3,000.
