KSI Montenegro belongs to a global network of international schools, united through a shared ethos and curriculum, with all of the KSI community being encouraged to live by the KSI Code. Modelled on both the successful features of Knightsbridge School in London and international standards accepted by high quality schools across the globe, KSI Montenegro offers a unique and holistic approach to education in the beautiful Bay of Kotor.
Being the first and only IB world school in Montenegro, we are fully committed to providing the International Baccalaureate framework for the primary (PYP), middle years (MYP) curriculum and Diploma Program (DP).
Through the KSI Montenegro experience, students are inspired to become independent problem solvers and contributing global citizens. The critical partnership among students, parents and school is a top priority and provides students with a supportive environment, a love of learning and unparalleled opportunities for academic excellence.
KSI is situated in the beautiful bay of Tivat/Kotor within the Porto Montenegro complex, Tivat’s former naval base that has become the newest luxury marina in the Adriatic. The location is ideal, offering KSI learners an extended classroom, access to land and water sports, a museum and its historical artifacts. Beyond Tivat, the Vrmac mountains, the national park at Lovcen and Skadar lake are ready to be discovered. Students participate in hiking, kayaking, skiing, sailing, the arts and historical research. The opportunities are endless.
Young students of 3-12 years begin their education in school with general development classes: teachers stimulate and encourage curiosity, critical and analytical thinking, the ability to link information from various sources, data on different subjects among themselves. The curriculum is based on interdisciplinary themes of a global scale, as well as local, national issues. The program consists of modules, each of which takes 6 weeks to study.
Students 11-16 years old are engaged in more intensive, in-depth than young students of the junior school - their list of subjects studied is wider, and the complexity is higher. Teachers strive to develop the intellectual level of children, the quality of their analytical and critical thinking, the ability for comparative analysis.
The program consists of 8 subject groups included in 5 interactive areas of knowledge.
It has been taught at the school since September 2015: the course has been carefully designed, analyzed and modernized for a long time to meet the highest modern world standards. In the senior grades, the children from 16 to 19 years of age study in the degree program.
This is an interesting and at the same time complex, intensive academic course, ending with exams. In addition to the completion of the school (general education) program, DP aims to prepare students for admission to the chosen university or higher school, to prepare for the beginning of a successful career and the right choice of a specialty.
The final stage of the full course of the IB program (it runs from junior to high school) is called the IB Diploma Program. This is a comprehensive two-year course for high school students (16-18 years old) intending to enter universities: an international IB diploma is highly valued, therefore it increases the chances of admission to any university in any country in the world.
All subjects available for study are divided into 6 thematic groups:
From the first 5 groups, the student chooses one specific direction, the most valuable for him + 1 subject from group 6 (art) / another subject from the first 5 groups. At the end of the two-year study, an exam is arranged in each direction.
Additionally, all students master 3 key blocks of the IB program:
