Independent private school Walhampton School works on the principle of mixed studying: here, both boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 13 can attend pre-school preparatory programs and study in primary school. The residence type can be chosen independently: the day form, weekly and full board work, and the total number of students reaches 320 people.
Walhampton School is located in the cozy small village in Hampshire County: you can get to central London in about two hours, as well as to Heathrow International Airport. The educational institution is located practically on the border of the famous nature reserve New Forest, which causes the incredible scenery of its campus, the total area of which reaches 40 hectares. There are three quiet lakes nearby, on which there are stations for swimming, sailing, canoeing, fishing. Also the school is proud of its own stables and horses - children in their spare time can successfully master riding.
For the first time, the doors of the school opened for schoolchildren in 1948, and in 1997 they merged with the local preparatory school Hordle House School. More recently, a new building was built for toddlers, where it became even more pleasant and comfortable for them to learn. The main goal of the institution is to create a comfortable, cozy, happy environment for the development of junior schoolchildren, educating them in an atmosphere of love and care. In addition to academic studies, much attention is paid to leisure: teachers understand well that children are primarily children, and allow them to frolic, to play, to walk in the fresh air. Often there are walks in the nearby forest: together with the teachers, children learn to love and respect nature, to take care of its safety.
The quality of studying here is regularly checked by the relevant commissions. For example, a well-known independent expert of the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), checking the school in 2013, put her the following high scores:
The independent, well-respected reference book The Good Schools Guide indicates that the school looks like the real embodiment of a childhood dream, and the campus leaves an exceptionally pleasant and warm impression.
According to statistics, graduates successfully enter the following prestigious and ranking schools:
Walhampton School officially supports the Anglican religion, but it does not officially belong to the number of religious educational institutions: children of any confession and religion, of any nationality are accepted.
At the initial educational stage, children study the general list of basic, key, fundamental subjects of the school curriculum:
All classes are conducted in an interesting interactive format, with a large number of game elements: this allows children not to overwork, to preserve interest in learning, easier to remember and learn the material.
Typically, Walhampton School operates on a full-time tuition system, but a full board is also organized: about 30-40 students choose it. There is also a week-long boarding: on weekdays, children live on campus, and spend their weekends in their own or host families, this option is also chosen by 30-40 of the total number of students.
There are separate rooms for boys and girls. Along with the children there are experienced, qualified educators, who constantly follow the order and discipline, help in solving any domestic issues.
Extracurricular activities and optional employment of students here, traditionally for the UK, are given great attention - children develop as harmonious, versatile personalities. Many sports exercises and walks are conducted in the open air: the nearby forest gives wonderful opportunities for picnics, walks on foot and bicycles.
Among the most popular sports are sailing, horse riding, dancing, rugby, canoeing, rowing. Many students attend the theater circle, take music and vocal lessons (you can sing in the school choir), a large number of art studios and craft workshops.
The Walhampton School Campus is well equipped and includes everything necessary for successful, effective teaching, enjoyable leisure and interesting optional activities. In addition to spacious, bright audiences, there is a spacious library and studios for visual arts, music and theater classes. A large sports complex with a swimming pool is ideal for all types of education - in the open air there are numerous fields and playgrounds, a stable with horses is equipped, and the proximity of three quiet lakes makes it possible to develop new water sports (for example, sailing, canoeing).
