Vitebsk State Medical University was founded in 1934 as a medical university hospital. In 1998, changes took place in the lifestyle of the educational institution: it passed accreditation and certification for the status of a university-type higher education institution and was renamed the Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University.
