6,000 foreign students lost their American visas after they were checked by representatives of the administration of President Donald Trump. Representatives of the authorities explained the revocation of all permits to enter the country by the fact that these citizens violated US law, supported terrorist movements or overstayed their stay in the territory of American states. For example, 4,000 of the revoked visas belonged to foreign students who allegedly committed assaults, burglaries, or drove while intoxicated in America. Almost 200-300 entry permits were canceled due to suspicions that students communicate with representatives of terrorist organizations or personally participate in their activities. About 300 people lost their visas due to their participation in pro-Palestinian protests on university campuses.
New applicants from June 2025 are checked more thoroughly, for example, their social media accounts are analyzed. The task of immigration officials is to identify signs of hostility towards America, traces of anti-Semitic persecution and propaganda of violence, etc.
