The majority of higher education scientific projects are collaborative research efforts. GSA staff strive to involve students and the city community in a dynamic program of exhibitions, lectures and events.

• In addition to the main campus in Glasgow, The Glasgow School of Art has locations in the Highlands and China.
• The GSA campus in the Highlands includes a group of listed buildings near the town of Forres. These structures are built in the Italian style and date back to the 1830s. Today, the historic buildings have been transformed into a world-class creative campus with studios, workshops and exhibition halls, modern laboratories for research and prototyping, and flexible project work spaces.
• Margaret Macdonald House — is the original student residence, it has a rich history and has been popular with students since its opening in 1995. The residential building is located close to the main campus in Garnethill.

Students of The Glasgow School of Art live in purpose-built residences located a five-minute walk from the main academic building. Around the buildings there is well-developed urban infrastructure and transport links. All living rooms — are a safe and equipped, cozy space created to ensure that the academic move to Glasgow goes with maximum comfort. As a rule, student residences include the following infrastructure:

• Apartments with furniture and bedrooms for 4-8 people,
• Single beds with mattress and mattress protector,
• Spacious wardrobes, additional storage space and a desk are also located in the sleeping areas,
• A common living room and/or kitchen is available in each apartment, the cooking space is fully equipped with kitchen appliances,
• Parking.

Typically, the rental price includes personal property insurance and all utilities except laundry services (which must be paid for upon actual use). There are some restrictions and limits to the insurance coverage.

High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus and residence halls.

From June to September, Blythswood House operates as a summer hostel, welcoming students, interns and guests who come to Glasgow for an extended stay. The spacious single rooms feature queen-size beds and en-suite bathrooms, and guests have access to shared kitchens and common areas.

The Glasgow School of Art curates an innovative year-round program of exhibitions, events, publishing projects and outreach activities both off campus and in purpose-built public galleries within the institution. Students can also participate in them, and they additionally have access to partner institutions where thematic extracurricular activities are held throughout the year.

On the GSA campus, students can join the Student Association – a charitable and independent organization that advocates for student interests.

For international students, one of the main requirements for admission to The Glasgow School of Art is confirmation of language proficiency through IELTS and other international tests.

To apply to most bachelor's programs, a digital portfolio with the applicant’s work is required — each course may have its own specific requirements, but having a portfolio unites almost all programs at this level. GSA accepts applicants with different levels of preparation, including those with a secondary education diploma obtained abroad. Often, future students must successfully pass entrance exams in individual disciplines that correspond to the subject matter of their future academic course.

Students who have obtained a bachelor's degree can apply for a master's degree — in this case, when applying to these specialized programs at The Glasgow School of Art, the average grade point average of applicants must be no lower than 3.0. Other requirements are individual for each course separately.
