The Dutch government lifts restrictions on obtaining diplomas in English

Universities in the Netherlands are jubilant - the country's leadership has abandoned its flagship policy of the "Act on Internationalization in the Balance" (WIB).

Its goal was to reduce the number of English-language degrees at local universities. Experts say that supporting such a policy would lead to a collapse in the educational system and labor market in the country. The number of international students has already started to decline due to various restrictions imposed by the Dutch government, so a focus on Dutch-language courses would have finished off international admissions even more.

Edwin Van Rest, CEO of Studyportals, commented on the new policy direction: "The new direction signals renewed support for internationalization and provides much-needed clarity for universities, many of which are still able to accept more international students."
