Recently, the Airports Council International (ACI) published a list of the busiest airports in the world - there are definitely many kilometers of queues for baggage claim.
According to the ISA, people from all over the world began to travel much more in 2023 than in 2022, with 8.5 billion people passing through airports over the past year. Many airports have become a transfer point, because in some countries direct flights to many destinations have been canceled.
In first place in terms of congestion is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in America: over the past year, it served more than 100 million tourists. Four major US airports also took places in this ranking - Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago O'Hare.
The second place was taken by Dubai Airport. Last year, the UAE was especially popular with tourists, so they served more than 70 million passengers. But this is not surprising, because many people made a transfer here in order to fly further to the country of destination.
Due to the fact that Japan has opened its borders to travelers, Tokyo Airport ranked fifth in terms of congestion. The number of tourists to this amazing country has increased by almost 55%. The fourth place was taken by London Airport, Istanbul was seventh, and New Delhi Airport closes the rating.
A huge plus is that people have begun to travel more. But are airlines and airports ready for such loads? Practice shows that yes. But some countries are not ready to receive tourists.
